Mario Kart Wii has a rich, deep speedrunning history within its Time Trial mode. Every known world record set in the game has been recorded on MKWRS.com, and in this video, we play against some of the first records ever set, from way back in 2008. Will they be easy to beat? By the way, if you're wondering what was going on with all my top 5 charts, it turns out it's a side effect from using the Ghost Manager on tt-rec. I had already tried this challenge once, failed miserably, and decided to try again, but I wanted to delete my old ghosts first. Apparently, when you delete ghosts, the top 5 times that weren't deleted will still show up on the results screen.

I'm pretty sure Rosa was common due to her mini turbo stat bonus, so people thought she was better on tracks with alot of turns.

What I don’t understand is even on the first day of the game being out people were already playing funky flame runner and had great lines that still hold up today - how was the meta combo and driving style discovered in just hours?

14:22 When it comes to Kart WRs, Wario happens to have similar (but not identical) stats to Dry Bowser, both having maxed Miniturbo, so perhaps Wario can snatch one of Dry Bowser's WRs there
