Forgot to talk about the eagles on the Meneltarma! They lived there, but they didn't interact with any of the characters we see in The Rings of Power (in fact, they would have abandoned Númenor at this point). And, it looks like they didn't try to get closer to Tolkien's writings by even the smallest margin. They wrote themselves into a corner in Season 1, and now they're backing themselves into it even more.

I can't believe there are channels (and supposed Tolkien's fans) that actually see this piece of crap as something to look foward to. WE know what Tolkien would say...and anyone who is blessed by some kind of critical thinking cannot pretend this is a good rendition. I'm afraid a see a lot of youngsters unable to understand the depth of Tolkien's work.

I shall implement the same policy I followed the last time around: ignore all the promotional material and watch nothing of the show but devote my precious time to watching and listening to fellow-Tolkien nerds disembowel it.

22:05 Based on the surrounding of that tower, my first guess it is Orthanc. It would make zero sense at all for Orthanc to be created this way, so it's something this show could absolutely do.

I watched a total of 35 minutes of season 1, in two tries - even though I'd downloaded the first few episodes as torrents - and then gave up in disgust. No intention of watching any of season 2, but I'll certainly enjoy folks like you tearing it to shreds. My sympathies, though, for having to watch it instead.
