This song hit different now. I'll never listen to this song the same way again. My husband was hospitalized with Covid when he slipped into a coma and his condition seemed to worsen by the hour. I was on the phone with the doctor and I asked, " Doctor...tell me the truth...will my husband make it out of this?" She said," Honestly, he'll be lucky if he makes it through the night. He was already diabetic and had congestive heart failure. I was in the middle of doing some housework and I literally almost fainted when she said that. I played Purple Rain while I attempted to finish my cleaning. Then suddenly a wave rushed over me, and I burst into tears. I knew he was gone. He coded 3 times that night, and on the 4th heart attack, he couldn't be resuscitated. He died at 2 am, on August 28th, 24 days after our anniversary. My world was shattered and my heart was broken into pieces. He died in 2020, it's been 2 years....and I'm still struggling with the grief, loss, and heartache. I miss him every day, hour, and minute. I stay strong for our 5 daughters, but some days the pain is unbearable and I break down in the quiet stillness of the night when I'm alone in my bed. So this song holds a special place in my heart. It was the moment I knew he was no longer with us and I had to let go. I miss him so much and I'm still trying to figure out how to adjust to life without him. He'll always be the love of my life. I appreciate the life and love we shared, and I look forward to seeing my baby in the purple rain. Thank you Prince, for creating this amazing love ballad that became a beautiful but bittersweet memory and soundtrack to the end of my husband's life. I'll see you both standing underneath that purple rain when I get to Heaven💔😙

I will never forget, my Dad ordered this concert on pay per view for me, in 1999. It's all I wanted and I got it. I sat and watched and enjoyed it alone. I was 14. Best New Years Eve ever.

''As a child, I remember when Elvis died. My mother cried and cried, but I did not understand. When I was a bit older, John Lennon died and my older sister cried and cried, but I did not understand. Then Prince died... and I understood''.

I am 25 years old, my dad raised me on prince. I still love this song in 2024 and this man was by far one of the greatest performers of all time. I wish I could have seen him live, rest easy prince. Your music will never die!

I was there for this performance, tears streaming down my face. Another night waiting outside of Paisley Park in the snow, hoping for a chance to get in at some point. We had no idea this was being filmed this night. Pure luck/fate, one of the best nights of my life….

A 13 year old me discovered his music and fell in love with it and him. A 54 old year me still loves him and his music. This version of Purple Rain always takes me to new level of emotion. Rest in love my music angel. For God made a musical recipe in Prince that lingers in my heart.💜💜💜💜💜
