Merciless has recently been getting more popular as a DPS option, especially when it topped the rankings in Aztecross's damage testing video. In this video I test to see if Merciless is actually a top contender for DPS or not.

Thanks for Watching!

The beauty of merciless is that it's a special weapon, so you can still use the stuff mentioned in this video for damage and switch to merciless if you don't have enough heavy ammo by the time the next dps phase comes around
  • This video was actually rather helpful in combination with the one from Aztecross, because yours has more specific/niche details that his DPS testing on Templar can't achieve. Merciless hits hard, shoots damn quick now, and is absolutely something that can hang near the dps numbers of Linears for a hot second, but it also runs out of ammo blazing fast and most boss damage phases aren't going to be close enough to you to see Merciless inside its optimal range. Though on the other side of the coin, it is a Special ammo weapon, able to hit with that much burst damage and not even need to crit. I can't imagine it finding a place in raid boss DPS strategies in Master modes, but as a fuck around and find out kind of weapon? I think it'll do more than enough to make things fun for people, especially in basic Strikes, being able to take your big target focused weapon and turn it into melting a fair chunk of a boss' health.

Most direct and to the point vids while still being great and informing. Thank you you're amazing !

Its also important to note.... this is a special weapon, using special ammo, and not heavy ammo. And it is competitive with heavy ammo weapons until it runs out of ammo. And lets be real; the more likely scenario with bait and switch is you miss a random bullet on one of your other weapons and fail to proc the perk because the game hates you. Or flinch.

I cannot appreciate your effort enough. That said, we need a new tribute hall like place. The floating circles in the back of the enclave are a good starting point.

Bro I love ur DPS testings Please we need more of this Great job 👍

I knew it was good, but this seems incredible for a special weapon. Definitely gonna keep mine infused now for a swap option when I'm out of heavy ammo. I bet it's really good in gambit too. Anyone who's not on anti-invader duty brings a rocket + Merciless.

personally i think that merciless is for short damage phases like a dungeon bosses where you can just pour out damage in the limited duration available. we won't be able to do much against raid bosses because of the longer damage phase and less "effective ammo economy"
  • @twizms
the good thing about merciless is you can pair it with lfr's or rockets and fill in dmg when your out of heavy
  • @bjcooper4365
Can you do a video explaining chill clip rockets and why people are freaking out over them? Or link one if you already have… I feel like I’ve seen one from you but I can’t remember.

hey prelapse not sure if you're ever going to see this but would it be worth testing out revenant (bakris) dps with the following: first super then use demo vorpal bump in the night for 4 consecutive shots - so pop super to get font and charged, then rocket, bakris dodge, rocket, demo, rocket, shuriken reload, rocket AND then swapping to merciless and spamming it out for 15 seconds. I'm guessing the graph dps would be really high at first, then dips a bit while pulling out merciless and shooting the first few shots, then jumps back up after conservative momentum is charged. I think it would do quite well but can't test it right now. This also has the advantage of conserving rocket ammo and special for merciless comes back faster anyway. Would be sick to test :)
  • Its a pretty good champion melter as well, Id use it with cataclysmic bait and switch. Unload a clip of merciless shots first then proc bait and switch on cataclysmic.

Merciless is just in a weird spot because it's like a burst weapon but not. It might just be a perfect option to run as back up damage. Basically run double special. Witherhoard and a trace with linear. Once out of linear ammo and in between dos phases swap out witherhoard for another kinetic gl and the trace for merciless? Maybe?
  • Merciless is really good for short dps phases, like Persys. But it also shines in being a special weapon which is able to compete with linears. If you really want to, you can just use the best of both worlds, by using Merciless and LFRs
  • @Alec67
Wanted to suggest a dps comparison between Touch of Malice w/ catalyst vs Hierarchy of Needs w/catalyst vs Outbreak perfected w/catalyst vs Revision zero w/ vorpal + fourth times
  • Can you dps test iza and roar of the bear swapping with demo and auto loading on a starfire warlock with two rockets shot for every iza shot? Compared to what linears can do rn.
  • So basically its REALLY good to pair along side these heavy options, as it can either serve as a back up damage option when your out of ammo or you can use it in short term damage phases sense it does similar damage in a shorter period of time

Hey idk if youll see this comment or not, but since your the best dps tester I can think of, could you do a video going over what you think the best dps options are right now?
