OK guys in this video, I provide you with a complete breakdown of why you should avoid pivoting with the lead foot for the lead hook. There are some situations the pivot is permitted but this video focuses on when it is inefficient i.e. combination punches at short to mid range distance.

I outline the main problems, give you a biomechanical assessment about why it is not appropriate, then I provide you with the details of the correct methodology, with drills and some technical bag work.

I’ve been training around 13 years and this is some of the sharpest instruction I’ve seen. Well done and thank you Coach.

Man this is exceptional! I have struggled for years with this problem with different coaches! I've now seen in seconds why! 99% of my coaches explain and even demonstrate slowly what to do and then when they do it at real speed it's different but they can't see it or admit it! New subscriber here and hope you have many breakdowns like this. Thank you.

Bro, this is crazy. I have always struggled with left hooks combo but this simple footwork fixed it. Try this, and your left hook wont lose power and ANY righthand shot after that will x10 power and balance. I tested it with left hook right hand and was blown away, but whats craziest was when u apply this to the left hook, right hook combo. Trust me when u throw that combo using this method ur righthook feels like an explosion on the bag, and its so much faster. Thanks so much for this tip bro!!!

You make bio mechanics very interesting, it's amazing how these little adjustments make a huge difference in speed, power and finesse Thanks Coach
  • I love that you're breaking it down to this level of detail. I firmly believe that we need to learn the "why" before we can properly learn the "how" in boxing. Understanding the kinetic chain is absolutely fundamental not just for beginners, but for experienced boxers who are at the level where improvement is only going to happen by drilling down into subtle but important details.

I had doubts about about pivoting lead leg when throwing left hook because sometimes it's make me losing balance but now when I so this video I believe that I'll never do that pivot again, very thankful coach Charles 🙏

Sir, I ve been training for 10 years and took me a very long time to figure that my punches were actually faster when I was not trying to pivot the lead foot while i m throwing them. Wish I have seen that video 10 years ago. LOL . Thank you for those excellent instructions. You are a gem
  • @ALoudSilence
THANK YOU!!! I've always felt that the lead pivot felt awkward but I couldn't really explain it. Now it all makes sense, great technique breakdown. Instant subscriber. Great work, looking forward to seeing more!

Thank you coach Charles. Now i understand why you said in a previous video for advanced boxers you ask not to rotate the foot on the lead hook
  • @clemfarley7257
Love it. If you’re going to stray from how things are normally taught and drilled, then you have to make your case and explain. Coach is very very smart.

I really enjoy this conceptually! I've always pivoted on my lead hand but I can see why this works well. Thank you also for the cue that you use to teach it. I'm helping a teen through his first competition and the coaching cues are a huge help for my first time coaching
