I think it mostly has to do with the fact that WWE is STILL selling his merch incredibly well 20 years after he was last active full-time in WWE. Nobody sells as much merch as he does on the legends side, and his 3:16 gimmick is so marketable that they put it on anything and everything and just print money from it. Replace the Austin with the local town, and you have people lining up for it each and every week. If WWE were to let Steve get that IP, they would lose a ton of money in merchandise that he doesn't even need to be around to sell.

It doesn't matter if 'Stone Cold' calls himself 'Stone Cold' because everyone is always going to call 'Steve Williams' 'Stone Cold', just like 'Dwayne Johnson' will always be universally called 'The Rock'. So WWE can 'Suck It.'
  • Austin 3:16 is a legend i grew up watching austin in wcw then wwf and i enjoyed watching Austin's match's 3:16 for life hell yeah. 🇬🇧🇬

They keep in mentioning Vince. Isn’t Vince gone from wwe? Why would Vince be negotiating with austin

i know this is wishful thinking... but since the rock got ownership of his name.. and is on the board of TKO.. imagine the rock vs austin for ownership of stone cold name for one last match :)
