Yes, it's true, the 1NZ can be pushed to some pretty high levels, I know of one with over 500hp! But that means replacing almost all internals, and parts for that engine are not cheap... 4A-GZE, on the other hand, can reach 300hp on stock internals, if not more... And being such old and popular engines, parts are plentiful and relatively cheap. So at 200hp they're about equal in value, but I plan to get a lot more out it eventually, which ought to be better bang for the buck.

yep that's right, and in my opinion 4AGZE is more durable than 1NZ, but yeah different people, different way to customize their engine. The thing is, Toyota is great!! haha

Why don't you use the 1NZ as a basic? many tuner can do about 200-250 hp with Turbo 1NZ, same price with swapped your engine to 4A-GZE the turboed it. Even in my country there is a yaris with 400++ hp using 1NZ , and Turbo.
