The Dogon tribe's traditional religion incorporates details about extrasolar astronomical bodies that could not have been discerned from naked-eye observation
In the 1930s when Marcel was with the tribe they drew with a stick on the ground the orbit of Sirius and its secondary star (Sirius B), saying that it is actually a double star System.

I heard about this around 1980. I suspect their knowledge is a fragment of the ancient astronomical knowledge that peoples like the pre-dynastic Egyptians inherited.

I was under the impression that there would be discussion in this video as to how they came to that knowledge. Is there another video where you discuss such theories? Dance, dreams, etc.

It seems to me that the Dogon people were keepers of ancient knowledge which had been forgotten by everyone else in the world. For some reason, this knowledge was so important, that it became the center of thrir own esoteric teachings. They lived apart from everyone and spoke their own language in order to preserve the precious information. In a previous age, they were either entrusted with it or took it upon themselves to pass it on unbroken, to all future generations of Dogon people.
