What? A million Indian Uber Eats delivery drivers didn't fill the labour gaps? Better tell Trudeau to bring in even more!
  • These businesses don't want to train or invest in Canadians. That is the real problem. Our people aren't learning anything at work, they aren't progressing or moving up. half of them are American owned or funded and have no interest in us beyond what they can squeeze out.

Pay is too little for skilled workers. Cpa accountants make $65,000 usd in canada versus $120,000 usd in USA.

Unemployment is high, but the government says we need more immigrants?

If we don't have enough qualified workers why are our salaries lower than the US and Europe ? Canadian engineers tell me they feel very underpaid .. same if not worse for IT workers ..could it be because our government is overdoing it and flooding the market? You know for years Canadian doctors / medical associations made it very very difficult for foreign doctors to practice in Canada. They're not dumb .. they didn't want doctors to be in good supply to then lower rates. Doctors don't want to work for cheap. Why should everyone else?
  • such a deficit is a straight lie. The recruitment procedures in Canada is messy and don't accept most candidates based on metrics not related to the skills needed for the job.
  • I went for an interview and they said you’re good but we don’t have time to train you. It was a machine operator position. Don’t care tho already have another job

Trying to solve our problems with immigration is a fool’s game. There needs to be social and economic incentives for our own citizens to work and train.
  • There's a recession and high unemployment rates in some parts of the country and employers are complaining There's not enough workers. Its a joke
  • @meganfraser5358
Invest in citizens, retrain, and change the careers schools promote. Less of what we're oversaturated in (tech- despite what this dude says, consulting, media etc.) and promote manufacturing, medical and engineering. Don't import workers and foreign students; promote internal growth.

why worry about training and lack of investment, why not automate things and apply technology to innovate. im not convinced more labour is the answer to the issues we face. also, people within canada need to move to where the work is, being complacent is unacceptable.
