this chickpea omelette recipe will blow your mind, in a good way. Garbanzo beans flour is not a common ingredient in most kitchens, but we highly recommend that you try this recipe to experiment with it. It’s an amazing source of clean protein, fiber, iron, and calcium, and a great vehicle for lots of herbs, spices. My daughter, Sophie (@AlexandSophiasshow) and I sure had a lot of fun creating this video at their kitchen and we hope you enjoy watching it!

Make the batter quickly the night before. Save the baking soda for the morning. You’ll find by letting the batter and herbs meld over night, especially the chickpea flour that the texture improves substantially. Also a tablespoon of tapioca flour and 1/3 cup of freshly ground flaxseed flour will improve the texture and the flavor remarkably. I keep a jar of a mix that I prepared from ground chia, chickpea flour, ground flaxseed, tapioca flour and ground red lentil. I grind all my own flours, mix and keep in the fridge. Instant, healthy crepe or pancake mix for both sweat or savory meals, flat breads, etc.

if you really want the Omlette to look and taste like a real egg omlette use Vegan peanut curd or coconut curd and /or use flaxseed gel. just take 2 teaspoons of flaxseed and boil it with a glass of water. for cooking purposes boil it for just about 5-7 mins. If you want to use flaxseed gel for hair and skin you need to boil it for a little linger to get a thicker gel consistency. Flaxseed gel behaves exactly like egg whites !! beating some vegan yogurt and flaxseed gel together with chickpea flour will allow the batter to hold a lot of air and your omlette will be nice and fluffy. Ive made vegan scambled eggs with this formula and nobody can make the difference. Try it
  • I'm from India. This recipe is called "Besan Cheela" or Besan chilla here. It is a common breakfast, especially for vegetarians (which most Hindus are).

Thanks for your super recipe. I have however discovered that the omelette will be even better if it is made with actual soaked, uncooked chickpeas ( not canned cooked chickpeas)! Instead of chickpea flour, soak a cup of dry chickpeas overnight, then drain and rinse them, and put the soaked chickpeas in a blender with on cup of fresh water and grind this to a fine batter. Pour the batter in a bowl and add all the herbs and spices you mentioned, then and proceed to make the omelette the same way as you did with chickpea flour. You are going to find that the resulting omelette will have a very close consistency to an egg omelette. It took me two years to discover this secret as the vegan omelettes I was eating in some restaurants were so much better than what I was making! Finally, I found the alternative recipe on the web. The same way, one can make Spanish Tortilla and Persian style Koukou ( Persian variety of Tortillas).

  • Love the heartfelt kindness and respect between this adorable Daughter and Mother. The OMELETTES looks SO YUMMY...❣
  • My mother used to prepare this during my childhood. It's called 'Besan Ka Cheela' in India 😊.

In india, we use this as a tempura batter. 1 part chickpea flour to .5 part rice flour + pinch of baking soda , salt,. chilli powder and turmeric., this will create perfect batter for frying veggies. Name of the dish is called as Bhajji. We just dip onions, eggplant, banana pepper, plaintain, raw banana, potato, cuban oregano leaf and then deep fry them
  • This is a very honest comment ! This is the first video that I've seen from your channel. I've seen hundreds of videos made by people from different countries since 2018. Without hesitation I would rate this as the BEST video that I've seen !!! πŸ˜€πŸ˜€πŸ˜πŸ˜ From the name mentioned I would guess that you're from Persia and I dunno whether you're a Mother & Daughter Team but you're AWESOME ! The lil' bits of sarcasm & jibes (both ways) (like the one on Fungus as an example) make this a truly memorable experience ! May you and your family ( and all viewers ) have a Healthy & Happy Life, especially right in the midst of the Covid-19 Pandemic; and beyond ! Cheers !

This is besan cheela. You can make this with wheat, rice, lentils. This is similar to dosa recipe. If it helps someone great vegans should follow Indian recipes to get their protein tho. So many people in India have been subsisting on plant based food for generations

  • Thank you for the time and effort you put into this video not to mention the entertainment value with your daughter. One of the benefits of this video, aside from a few trolls, was the many suggestions from your viewers to use substitutions or ways to obtain different tastes. Everyone has different tastes and you can pick and choose which suggestions best suits you. Once again thank you from a new subscriber.
  • I love using chickpea flour, and the more herbs and veggies the better! I will definitely give this a try! Thank you both for sharing! (P.S. your daughter is adorable!!)

  • I would ❀ to try healthy indian food!Secret for red onion: when you cut it in half run it under cold water and rub the two centers while doing so. Dry it off before cutting in into smaller pieces. Your eyes would appreciate it a lot better.
