Welcome Foolish Mortals to the Haunted Mansion!
In 1969 Disney made a long playing record about a story of two kids lost in a rainstorm who find and seek shelter in the unknown Haunted Mansion in this storyteller album!
I bought this record album when I was a early teenager at Walmart and it blew my mind away because this was the new attraction ride at Disneyland in California at the time!
I listened to this record a lot and I would pretend to follow the story like I was in the Haunted Mansion and kinda new what to expect when I went on the ride at Disneyland!
I love this Ghost story - it is voiced by Robie Lester and a young Ron Howard - the drawings are from my record album that I bought in 1969!
I added some pictures of the Haunted Mansion that I had to the story!
You can still buy by this CD version and it has all the same drawn pictures in the Storybook CD!
Happy Hallowween Foolish Mortals and enjoy the story of the Haunted Mansion!

I have been listening to this record for YEARS and for the longest time I wondered why the Ghost Host had to leave at midnight. Then today I realized something.....Disneyland closes at midnight.

I got this album in 1969, when I was 9 years old. I memorized it. On stormy nights, I'd bring my record player into the kitchen and my mother would make us hot tea to have as we listened. Great memories. Thanks for posting this!
  • Until I discovered rock and roll....THIS was my favorite album as a kid. From about 6-10, I wore this album out each night. (By the way, applause for Ron Howard as 'Mike'). Had the record, and the board game, and I wish I had them both now. The Haunted Mansion ride at Disneyland is STILL my favorite ride, and second home. It's tough to convey to you how trippy and downright mind-bending this album was...late at night....on dad's big-ass headphones; circa 1975-78. So much love for this.
  • My brother and I used to listen to this on a Playskool record player. Lights off, eating macaroni and cheese.

I'll be 51 in December, and I haven't heard this since I was about 10! I used to check it out from my school library all the time! I actually wore the record out. So good to hear it and see the illustrations. Takes me back 40 plus years!
  • I’m may be 44 years old, with this stuff still gives me the chills. If you think this is crazy, just imagined the ride itself at Disneyland.
  • I am 54 years old and still have this story album! It was my favorite as a kid! Such a great childhood memory! Thanks
  • Fun Fact, Mike is voiced by Ron Howard (Opie from Andy Griffith, Richie Cunningham from Happy Days, starred in American Graffiti, plus Director of numerous films)

Used to listen to this scratchy old record at my grandmother’s house in the 1980s, it had belonged to my mom or her younger siblings at one time. Spooked me good!

  • The narrator allso is the singer of "You're a mean one, Mr. Grinch" from the original How the Grinch stole ChristMas!! He's allso the voice of FredFlintstone and the voice of TonytheTiger too!! And he does the voice of the lead Bust Head in the HauntedMansion!! The BustHead even looks just like both him & like WaltDisney too!! Verry cool record!! Thank you so much for uploading it!!

We used to check this record out of the library when I was a kid. We went to Disney World for Halloween about 9 years ago. My parents went with us and my Mom bought the CD for me. My new car has no CD player. Happy to find this!
