Great video Mike. I appreciate your insight. A couple things I would like to say though: 1) There are way less SEALs than that. As of November 2023, there were 2900 SEALs (including ST6) and just over 3500 rangers, so there are actually less active SEALs compared to 75th Rangers. The “10,000” number gets thrown around a lot when discussing the number of SEALs, but that is the number of individuals assigned to NSW, not total SEALs which includes over 4,000 civilian employees, 2900 SEALs, SWCC, and Navy Reserve personnel. The difference is the rangers have all their support internal whereas the SEALs outreach their support to civilians and other navy personnel which makes the total NSW number seem much larger (also includes SWCC too). One Source: Task & Purpose / SOF by the Numbers + many other reliable sources. (YouTube won’t let me provide the links, it keeps deleting my comment when I do.) 2) Im sure you know this, but SEALs go to 6-9 months of SQT after BUD/S as well where they learn more advanced tactics including CQB, small unit tactics, maritime ops, airborne, freefall, SERE, tactical driving, etc. And then 18 months of work up when assigned to a team prior to deploying. So they get a lot more training on top of the very basic training at BUD/S. Source: SEAL/SWCC online / Assessment Pipelines (again I can’t provide the link, but it’s easily verifiable). This comment was not meant to be argumentative or negative in any way. Just a couple things that I think are common misconceptions about the Navy even among Tier 1 guys from other units. I appreciate everything you do and have done.
  • This is a great presentation, I'm British so getting my head around the US having so many different SF units (sof for yanks) was a bit of a task. Special Forces almost being a trademark for the green berets and SOF being the catch all is interesting and makes much more sense now. Glad to see the marines and rangers getting some credit, rangers have always been great guys, again confusing becuase a lot of blokes who arent rangers walk around with ranger on their arm. Very interesting about the funding for the white seals. I'd have assumed the USN spending billions on aircraft carriers and submarines wouldnt raise an eyebrow at throwing money at the seal teams.
  • @Mars-qq7ir
Thanks for the video. What does Marsoc specialize in?
  • Super informative video, Mike! Thanks for putting it together! Did you always carry such a muscular frame even when you were doing a ton of rucking in RRC?

Hey man great video. I know that marine reconnaissance isn’t a sof unit but they are a cut above regular marine infantry. Have you ever worked or talked to anyone from that community? If so what do you think about their mission, training, and pt standards? My brother was a marine and said those guys get great training and are “super fucking cool guys” so I got interested in them

I had a mate who left the uk marines without permission. I met him in spain and he went we went running everyday in summer in 35dg heat with the bastard sun burning skin. He eventually went back to uk and took his shit. A coupla years later i met his dad and he told me he joined uksf. Ive only seem him two times since then in 7 years. His mum showed me videos bof him flying a plane and driving some kind of tank. I know nothjng else about him now. SF is a different world❤
  • Rangers also got a huge increase in funding when we showed how good we are. Killed or captured more HVT than any other unit, SOF or CF.

Hey I was wondering if delta force has maritime capabilities/teams? If so what do they do? I think I’ve heard former delta kinda of hint that they do maritime stuff but never clear answers.
  • @svdcleveland
Would like to know your thoughts on SR in the Air Force, up to the 724, from a Tier1 reconnaissance perspective.
  • @Frank-uw5xq
There's around 4000 A-Team slots in SF...not everyone in the command is A-Team operators, there's Civil Affairs,& Psyc Ops also
  • Did u ever worked with UKSF guys and how were they compared to JSOC units?
  • @JimO534
Could you do one on officers vs. enlisted in SOF? And tips for the pipeline? Thank you!
  • Hey Mike, would you make a training program that reassembles the Ranger Reccanisance daily training throughout the week? Like weekly Mon thru Sat. Weight lifting than tactical training etc? I would totally buy that from you brother. Thanks for your service. God bless
