Fun fact: Players were forming search parties for zombies because there were just so few of them on the map.
  • @REfan001
"shit happens" is absolutely going to become an iconic line from gaming history
  • @5PctJuice
One of the easiest ways to spot a lie is if someone tries to answer a random question you never asked and gives way too many specific details no one cared about.
  • @Avgsharkenjoyer
"most wishlisted game on steam" i didnt realize i lived under a rock, i never even heard of this game
  • @mkiller1001
I feel like I was the only person who never heard about this game before this whole drama started.
  • @shifterzx
The most bizarre thing is seeing people actually paid money despite all the red flags and obvious scam that it was.
  • @TheSurgePhoenix
You know, at the end of this video it makes me appreciate what No Man's Sky became. It is literally the antithesis of The Day Before in pretty much every way
  • @arcanesilence
Fntastic invited us to take part in a test task of writing a soundtrack for their game. The task was formulated as poorly as possible and with contradictions, and they gave 2 references, each of which is different from the other and not similar to what was in the task text. As a result, we were not hired, and, of course, the task was not paid for; they chose a person who did not even try to somehow fulfill the points written in the task, but did something completely different: an ordinary trailer track.
  • I still can't believe that this was the most wish listed game. I never heard of this thing until an offhand mention in another video like a few days before release.
  • @LarryLovesTech
I was dying at the part where the developer was asked if they were going to add melee and they said "we're considering it" LMAO!!
  • @prestiboi
The craziest part for me was the Discord. It was a literal NUCLEAR meltdown of their discord. Staff were quiting on the spot, switching teams and calling the game out, till the point they created there own voice channels and text channels to keep 'elections for the best mod' because he switched sides, was so so so funny.
  • @riffgroove
This is like the "Fyre Festival" of video games.
  • @brektheogre1183
You gotta give them credit. The day before release was the last day anyone believed the hype
  • @benschlaff9203
This whole saga has the energy of a child trying to convince their parents that they totally did their homework
  • @firstlast-wm3li
There has to be criminal charges to indict this disgraceful company, wow. This is shameful!
  • @watermelon5896
Ive been a fan of Dayz and the devs for years and to see their response to this mess and their for no apparent reason celebration got me clapping my knees and rising my respect for them ten fold, loved to see that shit.
  • @SoWhack
The Day Before was available to purchase for almost as long as Christopher Judge's speech last year, damn.
  • @Ealsante
Regarding the Continent thing - I think you hit it on the head, because that story is exactly how Slack became a thing. A company called Tiny Speck used something like Slack as a tool when working on a game, and when the game (Giltch) turned out meh, they pivoted to selling the collab tool and became really successful.
  • @duskdev
One thing that is worth mentioning though is that it's almost impossible to calculate a developer's net profits from these sort of public facing numbers when a publisher is involved. It's entirely possible that all profits from The Day Before went toward the publisher's recoup, and I've known of contracts where the developer received only 50% or less of the net in royalties even after recoup (and that's before taxes). Which isn't to defend Fntastic at all, mind you, it's just to point out that if this were some alternate reality where they weren't dragging entire carts of red flags behind them, the claim that they haven't seen any money from TDB isn't at all unbelievable. And while in this case I have no doubt that Fntastic made off with a large sum of money in some form, you unfortunately can't assume that a dev sees 70% of whatever their games make on Steam, unless they've self-published and have no overhead to speak of. Again though, this isn't to absolve Fnatical because likely most of whatever the publisher invested was pocketed anyway, given the state of the game.
