Before getting in to the industry, I used to work for a third party FQA company. For the project I was on, the developers had this very rare bug in their game and swept it under the rug for a while. Until one day, a specific customer complained. We were told to drop everything and try to reproduce it. When talking to the developpers, we found out it became such a high priority because the customer that reported it spent OVER $20,000 on their game. It's crazy what people are willing to spend.

I don't know whether to feel disgusted, horrified or annoyed that this guy is out 2k for a game

When 343 implements a shop that costs thousands of dollars to buy everything in it but still won't let the community cross core any of it DESPITE promising it for months now

This is why 343 will keep the shop

No matter how well intentions are for any company/organisation/business, it's just a downward spiral the moment someone asks "how do we make more money?"

Love how they created enough content for the shop that you can pay over $ 1000 for it, yet the campaign is so buggy that you can't even properly get the achievement for beating the campaign on legendary difficulty. Clearly they have set their priorities right.

People like this guy is why 343 continues to do what it does. Boycotting the shop is what we should be doing so they can focus on what matters

Imagine a live service game with DLC purchases to sustain the game. Halo 2 and 3 had this. I don't mind spending $20 every season if it gives a quality live service sustainability and variance

The corporatization of games has certainly hurt it. Pardon my boomer take like you said remy, but back then devs literally just made what they thought would be fun for them. Its why some games like fromsoft or indie games genuinely just feel so great. Can you imagine what a studio with full creative freedom, no pressures from the publisher and stakeholders to implement money making mechanincs with a AAA budget would look like in the modern era? Holy shit, nearly every AAA game would be a banger instead of just a few of them.

And this is why it will never go away.

He is the reason why and people like him, why they are not rushing to finish or polish the game
