Nature Designed NEXT LEVEL Eggs!

Published 2024-04-05
These Phasmid eggs are so next level, it is hard to imagine any other animal having eggs anywhere nearly as ingenious! These Stick Insects are a type of Phasmid, and Phasmids have learned to not only trick Ants into protecting their eggs, but it also bribes them to do so. Many Stick Insect eggs have a little knob on the end called a "Caputula" The Capitula resembles an elaiosome found on seeds such as castor seeds which is rich in protein and lipids in order to entice ants to take the seeds beneath the soil. The capitulum found on Phasmid eggs is designed to do that very same thing! This is a form of convergent evolution and it is purely genious. #nature #science #animals
