Thank you so much for half a million subscribers. I hope this video strikes a balance between helpful and entertaining. I encourage everyone with the faintest interest in animation to try out this process, it's really fun and unique. It's okay to steal my style outright, imitation is flattery and the greatest jumping off point for finding your own style. Links in the description to everything you'll need! Much love <3
  • I thought the glitches were on purpose lol they really do add too it somehow. Kinda makes everything feel off and even more like an awkward fever dream.
  • @SupahCola
All jokes aside, Joel's point about art being accessible and fun is such an important lesson for creative-types.

i'm glad Joel FINALLY got to appear on Smiling Friends and show off his iconic ebsynth artstyle to a wider tv audience
  • @Gift2225
And now it’s in smiling friends. Wow.
  • @VoiceDisasterNz
So this means that he explicitly outlined the nipples on the villain in the Scooby-Doo bit. lmao
  • @patchez058
Not only does he have a good sense of humor and is a talented creator, but he's also a genuinely awesome dude. Thanks for the tutorial.
  • @CircleToonsHD
It's rare when someone comes around and changes the whole fucking game, but I'm glad this time it was someone like you, keep being dope man!
  • @MasterCookies
Its crazy that he burned an actual village for the plot point in his last RPG video
  • “All technology is a cheat code.” “Art should be in the hands of everyone.” “We should be able to feel good while making art.” 👏👏👏👏👏👏 Well done, Joel
  • @flaetsbnort
wow, he gave himself a cartoon mustache, then went back and gave his real self a real mustache, that's dedication
  • @adamrowan2618
The fact that you animated the animation process really shows how much care you put into your channel.
  • To be honest i never realized how much work it was to make these videos, i thought it was just a camera effect but this is by hand!? incredible.

This is exactly how AI is supposed to be used in creative projects. It helps make the process faster and easier, but you still use your artistic skills and put in the work to make it your own unique style. From what I’ve seen, AI bros don’t want to put in the work and just want the AI to do EVERYTHING for them, whether it’s due to lack of artistic skill or patience, or both. And then they ignore the glaring issues because they don’t have the trained eye to spot them.

"Art should be in the hands of everyone." Fuckin' love you, Joel.
  • @JoeVirella
Wtf not only does Joel have some of the best videos in existence, this has got to be one of, if not the, best tutorial ever. It’s fun, educational and creative af.
