One notable thing about Grim Matchstick is that a number of people find him easier on expert than on normal due to the fact the clouds are going the opposite direction. This, surprisingly, makes a world of difference, especially for his second and third phase since you’re moving further away from his attacks rather than into them.
  • Im glad you put 8 ball where he was placed. He was unbelievably easy 😂
  • My favorite part about Cuphead is that it’s extremely hard yet it’s still fair, every time you die it’s your fault and you have to learn to not make the same mistake again, so it makes me happy that the game doesn’t do much to make things easier other than a simple mode, and you can’t even beat the game unless you beat every boss in regular so your pretty much forced to play in regular mode to beat the game, there are no checkpoints so if you die you have to go back to the beginning of the boss or level, and that’s a good thing because it means your not getting too much help and you’ll actually learn how to play the game rather than just being handicapped the whole time.

I recently S-ranked every boss in the game and I can easily say that the ***** ice mage from the DLC was absolute the hardest one. To get all the parries in time it was required a LOT of rng, taking me many and many restarts due to it, and one thing I did to make the parry issue "easier" was stop firing on the first phase and holding it at the point where he throws his 2nd pink card. It worked for me but it was not funny at all. The worst 11 hours of my life.

A tip for anyone struggling to get parries in Moonshine Mob: Don’t worry about trying to get them in the first 3 phases at all, just try to do it as fast as possible. You then should have enough time to just wait for the snail to give you your parries as it’s super easy to dodge his projectiles

I am literally HORRIBLE at this game. I don’t game often and even though I’m really bad at the game I absolutely love watching others play. It’s amazing to me that you were able to clear these bosses so easily. Honestly hats off to you! Thank you for the quality content and voicing your cuphead experience :)

Whoever designed Mangosteen went way too far. Clearly the desinger's mother didn't hug them enough as a child so they took it out on us with such a daunting fight. Chef Saltbaker has nightmares of Mangosteen!

I gotta say this is probably the best list I've personally seen. Very fair and well made.

Firstly, great video. Secondly, glad the public is finally realizing just how much of a nightmare Wally is. And thirdly, in my personal opinion, I’d put Rumor in Tests Your Meddle. For me the main reason I hate her so much is because I could never truly find a great weapon kit to fight her, seeing as both she and the stage move around so much. But overall good rankings!

I S-ranked every boss in the game recently and I would say this ranking and descriptions are pretty close to my experience. In fact, any boss is difficult during the first encounter. But spent some time and they will be miraculously easier with every run. The bosses from the top tiers are the ones that require complex tactics and muscle memory, which can only be achieved with practice and patience. From the very beginning, Saltbaker seemed like a nightmare to me, but after spending an hour on him, I literally trained to dodge things: I got to know where better to do a single/double jump, where to roll, how to parry this damn sugar, etc. (I would recommend Ms. Chalice with II Super for this fight). Train yourself to get past the first two phases with 1 or 2 hits, and the remaining two are quite simple. In this respect, Wally Warbles, Esther Winchester and Hilda Berg were equally the hardest bosses of the game for me to S-rank, as ALL of their phases are pretty hard and require maximum concentration and training. The Robot is certainly hard too, but look for good tactics against him and he will be quite simple, probably the easiest plane boss to S-rank. Also, I want to mention 1 more tip for those who are struggling with the plane fights, as they are the hardest: get the damn Divine Relic and learn to use it. It is really a blessing for the plane bosses (and also P-ranking Run and Gun levels). The weapon swap is controllable and the benefits it gives you outmatch everything. Cheers!

I think a fair point about the perceived difficulty of the bosses, is that they were also first experienced without the crackshot. Which in my own opinion actually makes a lot of the bosses from the base game A LOT easier. And there also wasn't heart ring back then... I remember using ages to s-rank the bosses before the dlc
  • Imo Grim is one of the few bosses that gets easier in expert, and it’s all because you are not restricted to roundabout/chaser (and if you have the DLC crackshot) to being able to hit him consistently in phase 3. Being able to use lobber makes it so much easier to get a quick kill and (more importantly) not blow up his fire bubbles

Something I picked up on Cala Maria is that during the second phase you could avoid her petrification entirely just by chilling over her head and it's easy to avoid the eels attacks with the mini.

I feel very blessed that I don’t struggle with Chef Saltbaker. I just beat him a bunch of times on regular mode until I got familiar to his attacks. And when I tried to do Expert mode, it was a breeze. I got S rank accidentally.
  • @KayzIdeas
Wally Warbles was an absolute nightmare for me because off the eggs in the first phase splitting in 5 instead of 3, and the baby bird chains cutting off all the appropriate space needed to dodge the eggs. I don't even know how I got passed that bird house from hell.
  • Best cuphead boss ranking tier list in my opinion, really fair and has good explanations on why the bosses are ranked where they are. Honestly i think Cuphead's all about choosing the right weapon kit and having good reflexes to dodge whatever attacks come at you.
  • @aangeles21
In my opinion dr kahls robot is the easiest, it's the only boss i beat first try alongside goopy le grande
  • @arne2231
Getting a S-rank on the chef was the worst and most difficult thing in my entire life. The first phase was an absolute mess and even if you passed it it was guaranteed that you’ll lose a life on the next one.. hell na bad memories, it took like 3 hours for me
