It's a shame so many jobs were lost over the last 3 decades. I lived in the area in the 70s and went to the old Navarre Elem school. Those areas you were showing around the Oak and Navarre areas were full of working-class families with kids playing outside in nice yards. We walked to Walter's Drug Store or Bill's convenience store next to it for candy. We shopped at the A&P down Navarre off Woodville. Occasionally, there was an ice cream store across from Walter's.
  • That's my honetown and birthplace. Had family on Walden Ave. 50s and 60s were πŸ’₯. The neigh orhoods were beautiful and even in inner city and south Toledo. I loved the eastside. I think many cities are going through a shift. It will be revitalized and not the same, as periodically all things go through a shift and are transformed. πŸ˜‰πŸ˜˜
  • I grew up on a lot of those streets in the early 60's. I recognize the streets. A lot of the houses are gone that were there when I was there.

I grew up in the North End but my cousins grew up on Front Street, East SIDE.
  • Yea, it's the East Side, not East End. Maybe you are thinking of The Old West End? You drove along my paper route, Navarre and Spring Grove. I have been out of there for 47 years! It has steadily gone down hill.

Got to agree with you - lived in Toledo during bad economic times - it was tough to be there - on my own, barely keeping a roof over my head... tough times. Lived in some pretty rough areas - East side and North End.

Grew up on the east. I knew exactly where you were from the start of the vid πŸ˜… i haven't been there since 2004. Only mistake you made imo was not making that left on price St. But thanks for the video
