David Willey has explained his decision to retire from international cricket after the World Cup.
After missing out on a spot at the 2019 World Cup, Willey has battled hard to regain a place in the side in 2023.
However, when central contracts where announced by the ECB during the tournament, he was the only England player in India not to be handed a new deal after picking up a one-year central contract last year, a decision he admits has factored into his decision to retire.

His face says it all. Shocking from the management - not even that the decision alone is that bad, but doing it mid way through a World Cup is just insane and unfair

David Willey is one of the bright spots for England in this horrible, horrible world cup defense and not offering him a central contract is disappointing. Especially given that, England still have to fight for champions trophy spot and willey could have played that as Pakistan is the host.
-
Now I see why they are performing poorly like this!

Well the Englishmen could still play for pride. If they beat the Aussies they may stop them from qualifying.

It's a shame to England Cricket Board 😠
-
Why are they announcing central contracts before the world cup. Should be done after..
