- Although Pharaoh is described in the Quran as an icon of tyranny, it may come as a surprise to many that the current petty tyrants across the Muslim world today are worse than Pharaoh in many respects. At least Pharaoh was open about his disbelief, while many of our current rulers are hypocrites, claiming an outward adherence to Islam while conspiring against it day and night, in collusion with the enemies of Islam and Muslims; at least Pharaoh allowed for a margin of freedom of expression when he challenged Moses in a public debate and contest, while today's tyrants, especially the Al-Sauds, don't allow for any form of free expression of ideas or debate, and anyone who is even suspected of having dissenting tendencies is thrown in jail and tortured. A brief comparison between the tyranny of Pharaoh and that of many petty tyrants today will reveal that they are worse in many respects.
