Tour de France 2024 STAGE 1 PREVIEW - Can Tadej Pogacar TAKE THE YELLOW ALREADY?

I think there will be enormous battle for GC from the get-go in stage 1 and all the riders will put on an exhilarating show as always. I am so excited .

Given that I think Pogi and UAE are going to try to gain as much time as possible in the opening week, I think Pogi is going to go for it.

UAE will put the hurt on Jonas and Visma. They will definitely want to see what kind of form he's in, and he'll have to defend like there's no tomorrow. He does not want to go down on this stage with any gap over 30 seconds. Because if he can't follow the wheel of Roglic and Pog, then stage 4 will be critical as they go over Col du Galibier. If he's not up to the task, that gap can increase to over a minute or two. From then on, it will be a stiff climb for him just to be in the hunt for the podium. Can't wait!

I actually expect Stage 2 to prove more important to GC. Can try on the San Luca once or twice and really push an advantage to 1-2 minutes. Short climbs but steep as hell

I didn't realize it was hilly like this. Epic stage. This will be fire. 3800m Elevation for 1st stage. Is that a first? Excited for this one.

This is a type of 1st stage that could put Pog so far out front they never see him again 😉....or not 😅

It will be quite hot during Stage 1. Pogi doesn't like the heat. It'll be interesting to see how UAE decide to ride.

this stage will surely measure up all the teams and the GC aspirants. Better manage that energy and efforts to stay at the tour

I exspect a breakaway. The tourfavorits may have an altercation on the last climb, or earlier if one fails earlier on.

Pogacar needs to get a min or more on vingegaard on stage 1. Same stage 4, same tt. B c by stage 10 v will be in shape and will be coming. Sad b c wva cd win stage 1, but has to stay with v, who currently is down some b c of that crash

It really depends how this stage is ridden by UAE. Pogacar could very well wrap the tour up on a stage like this.

I wish you would say "climb" rather than ascent otherwise 10/10

I don't think it is going to be one of the big names. I think it'll come down to reduced sprint finish. There's too much meat on the end to warrant burning your riders out on a 15km TT.

I'm not sure it is wise to drop the Hammer on the first day, build early fatigue then have to defend the yellow jersey for 3 weeks day after day against series of attacks. Its hard for the team. We will see.
