C418 has had one of his three Minecraft albums stored in the back of Minecraft's Original Soundtrack Vault for Years and the real story behind it has never been released, Until now. I Spent about 200 hours creating this video and every element in it so if you could sub or follow elsewhere it would really mean a lot.

Keep in mind, this is Microsoft’s fault not the fault of the various new composers.

Honestly good for C418 for keeping the rights to his music. Whenever you produce anything working under someone you don't hold the rights and it always felt so unfair to me.
-
i genuinely believe without his soundtrack the game wouldn’t be widely regarded as on of the best videos games of all time. for me back in the day it’s what made the game feel special
-
The new artists did a decent job, it just sucks that C418 got cut out practically.
-
One thing is that if C418 ever did release the 3rd album, someone would immediately make a mod that puts it into the game

I don't think any of the new music is bad, but there is something that's always been slightly off about it. C418 has a very specific sound that isn't like anyone else, and I really hope that someday, we get to hear his third album. Also, I know that Minecraft Story Mode's soundtrack isn't really "Minecraft", but I still like it for what it is. Again, it's not bad music, but different from C418.

The only issue I have with this (otherwise pretty great!) essay is that the "per-biome" music was never an element of C418's music; only the new songs are assigned to specific biomes.
-
If C418 came back I feel he could create the best piece of game music in history using the path he took through complications with Minecraft.
-
Coming down on Pigstep I feel is misguided. Pigsteps entire goal is to be radically different from the C418 tracks. It’s a different dimension, and a different civilization. This formula could’ve worked had they actually stuck to the gimmick of ONLY having guest artists in separate dimensions

Great job on the video! I really enjoyed narrating the first chapter on this amazing project! Thanks for inviting me.

This does not make me want to quit playing Minecraft, it just makes me want to hear the c418 soundtrack even more.
-
c418 was my second most listened to artist on spotify
-
my only problem with the new songs is that they seem to take priority over the older songs despite not entirely fitting. so far the best are the ones by Kumi Tanioka but they still don't fit as well.

I don't know how this ended up being recommended to me, or why I randomly decided to watch a Minecraft documentary, but this was so well done. I legit did a doubletake when I saw the view count. It's criminal that something with so much work behind it doesn't get the recognition it deserves. I REALLY hope this blows up, because it should.

using the pigstep drop to show the poor reviews for it was WILD lmao

When I watch videos like this I wish copyright restrictions were less strict. I hear references be made to music I either cannot remember or do not know and feel like Im missing a lot of the points being made. Having clips of the music added in would have helped a lot, but I get why its not done. It is difficult to avoid demonetization or strikes. ❤

I am completely against the Idea of picking people into two categories, like "team change vs nostalgia". You can both have C418 doing the background soundtrack while new musicians trickle their music and art into music discs or new dimension themes
-
For what little direction he was given, C418 did produce some amazingly memorable music for Minecraft.

honestly, i don't care if the music disks are very different. They're music disks, i think that's kind of their point. Pigstep never plays naturally, you need to play it via the jukebox
