It now strikes me that MGS1 is the start of a common thread in Kojima’s endings: a mystified force, initially perceived as natural and/or inevitable, is placed within its proper social and historical context, and then subverted, though not necessarily overthrown or destroyed outright. We see this • in Snake’s advice to Raiden at the end of 2, • in Eva’s revelation of the Boss’ will at the end of 3, and • in Sam and Lou’s victory over aging and death in the final shots of Death Stranding.

The ending of MGS2 marked me as a person, it's message striked to me when I didn't knew what was going to happen in the future, I felt lost and fearful, Snake's final monologue told me that It was in my hands whom I want to be, and it is my responsibility to live up to myself and the people that will come after me, fighting for a better future, and not letting my past define me In other words, Metal Gear made me trans (Im so excited for the next video ☺️☺️☺️)

Yes!!! I've been hoping you'd eventually revisit the series like this. Discussions around Metal Gear tend to be more interesting when they come from a personal space. Like with the codec calls, it's less about the rote repetition of facts and more about what they mean to the person saying them. I'm sure the best is yet to come ❤
