Why some people felt Tuesday's earthquake and others didn't

I received the My Shake App notification last night in West L.A., and a second later, I heard a barely discernible noise, which I believe was related to the earthquake.

Underground drilling

Californians now need the government to text them when an earthquake is happening? 🤔 Essentially saying, "Hey, that shaking you feel is an earthquake, be sure to stop what you're doing, drop to the ground and take cover, but only after reading this message." If you can feel the earthquake, does the California government expect you to stop what you're doing to check text message? "Ma, I can't run outside the house right now, Big Brother is texting me. I have to find out of this is a real earthquake or not."
