The CGI of Leia and Tarkin was incredible. I spent the ride home from the movie wondering if the only reason it seemed a bit "off" was simply because I know that Peter Cushing is dead and Carrie Fisher really looks like she appears in The Force Awakens. It's possible that the CGI would not have been noticeable at all if I weren't aware of those facts.
  • This film just got a whole lot more eerie now that Carrie Fisher died. Now both CGI-resurrected actors are dead.

The cgi was good but still noticeable. The eyes didn't seem too lifelike but I'm just glad we got to see these characters again

I teared up when I saw her face, especially with the beautiful music, R I P Carrie, May the force be with you.
  • This is fantastic. I don't know why some people are complaining about the CGI for Cushing and Fischer. They did a terrific job here.

CGI tarkin looked real, but cgi leia looked fake

The guy who played Tarkin was Pius Thickneese in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Actor Guy Henry.

Tarkin was to tall... I know he's a taller guy, but he fucking TOWERED over everyone in this movie.

I like how everyone suddenly becomes an expert in the digital effects field. I thought both were awesome! I actually thought they used a look a like for the princess and Tarkin. It didn't take away from the movie at all!

Didn't even figure out it was cgi. thought it was just very good makeup artists :P
  • @flaggerify
Leia looks like a lifeless mannequin, Tarkin like a video game extra.
  • They LOOK good if you pause it. The lighting, the model, but when they start MOVING!!! OUCH. So uncanny and cartoony.
  • CGI Tarkin looks like a video game. Leia on the other hand looked perfect
  • @LauraSeabrook
Leia's face in motion was oddly "wrong". Not sure why. Tarkin's was creepy, which suited the character, but if anything he looked TOO HEALTHY to match the human original.

I'm seeing articles and reviews moaning about the CGI inclusion of these characters, but I thought it was incredible. The film needs old faces otherwise it doesn't click. As long as the family of Peter Cushing are fine with him being included then what's the harm. It amazed me they could even do such things.
  • @brahsumatra
It looked better than the CGI used for Paul Walker in Furious 7.

Amazing visual effects. When Tarkin turned around and spoke my jaw was in my lap.
