As an American, I understand about 50% what this guy is saying, 70% of what he's eating, and 0% of why this was in my youtube queue. Hey everyone commenting to my comment, it was just a joke post and I'm really tired of all the notifications. Nothing against English food or Welsh speakers, just having a laugh. Enjoy your eel jelly and hair soup etc etc

"the chips are so big they might as well just give ya potatoes" made me laugh when he said that 😂

I went here back in 2006 and it was my first time in London. I was alone on a business trip and was wandering around on a Sunday after dropping my bags at the hotel. Stumbled onto this place and shyly ordered a haddock and chips and sat there happily eating my first fish and chips in London.

My grandfather went here when he was on leave in London during WW1, my dad went during WW2 and my he took me here as a kid when I visited the UK the first time as a child. Over the next 35 years I went during every visit but haven't managed to get there since 2013.

OK correction, Rock and Sole Plaice used to be known for using Seasame Seed Oil to cook their fish and chips. Unfortunately they were sold due to the Pandemic. The new owners chose not to continue the tradition and now are a total shadow of what they previously were. They'd cheaper out massively, their quality is nothing like what it used to be.

As an American I now have a reason to visit London! That meal looks delicious!

I know it must take a good deal of multitasking to say hi to people chatting with you and also film the core content. But I must say, the random chats from random passersby is a big part of what I enjoy in your videos. The fish and chips look really good.
  • Danny says “right then let’s join the queue” and then walks straight to front 😂 what a Legend 🤝🏻 did anyone else see the look on that blokes face already waiting patiently and then Danny bowls in and gets served before him 😢😂

At 6:39 you can see the flat (20 yards away )that I used to live in 40 years ago. Back then at the start of the rise of Covent Garden as a tourist attraction (200 yards away) this was just an unremarkable chip shop mainly frequented by people local to the area, no fancy frontage or tables outside, a basic chip shop menu and take away only 😄 Food was always good, 8/10 and reasonably priced. Can't speak for how good it is today , I've not eaten there for many many years as I no longer live in the area and every time I've passed by it's swarming with tourists. Glad to see they are still thriving BUT despite their longevity I'm not sure if they are the oldest chip shop in London ? :goodvibes

Never ceases to amaze me, how come a bland union of seafood and potato turns into a delicious dish!
  • @albertnash888
No trip to the United Kingdom is complete without eating traditional British Fish and Chips! That sausage they give you looks delicious as well!
  • @Johnny-hq3cd
Even though I cant understand 90% of what he is saying I still enjoy his videos 😂

I've been away from ( Leicester ) England for 16 years. I went through a rollercoaster of taste memories watching this. Just wanted to say thank you brother!❤

What made the saveloy exceptional in this place was the fact that they'd soak the saveloys in hot water to keep them succulent. The old owner used to point this out to people whenever he got the chance. He was a grumpy so and so but when he'd start to recognise you he'd soften a little. It was one of the staple places you went for lunch when you worked around there, usually the 3/4 days after you got paid. The rest of the month you were eating out of No.1 Cafe on Earlham street.

This video makes me want to take a flight to London just to go to this Fish & Chip shop!
  • @Christianlee14
Makes me laugh every time you just plonk yourself down anywhere , this time by the beginning of two crossings 😂😂😂
  • @TrudyTrew
This may be the oldest but not the best. My current favourite in theobalds road is the fryers delight. More traditional, and much better value.

It's amazing to see you are getting recognised in London as it's a big place. The fish and chips with all the other bits was a good price. I would have thought they would have cost a lot more considering the area where you are at. That piece of fish is a really good size and the chips are proper!! Look 👀 at the size of them. Hope you do some more London video's soon Danny as they have been really good viewing so far....🙂👍🏻👍🏻

What people dont get is the business rates in London are enormous. Use to do the accounts for my company we where a firm of 12 with one floor of a small office block in the West End. the rates where over £100,000 per year! that was 10 years ago. So costs will always be higher.
