We’ve known the big one is coming for years. I just hope it doesn’t happen while me or a friend or a loved one is driving.

I like how millions of people flock to areas prone to certain natural disasters, then get shocked when natural disasters happen, or when scientists predict a natural disaster is possible to occur at some point 🗿
  • This has been known for years it’s nothing new. People unfortunately are just now realizing how serious it’s getting.
  • Interesting how this just popped up in my feed after watching updates on the Rolling Hills Estates landslides happening now.

What makes them bringing up this earthquakes subject all of the sudden? They have been saying the Big One for decades.

Ive been hearing about “the big one” since i was 8. Not going to lie it scares the hell out of me till this day knowing this might or might not happen. Im 27 years old and still waiting. Hopefully it never will 🤷‍♂️

Last time they said the "Big One" would eventually come from the San Andreas Fault Line, never knew about the Palos Verdes Fault. Just another reason why I don't miss living on the coast, don't have to worry about rising seas, earthquakes, tropical storms, etc. that seem to plague coastal cities. Just have to worry about the giant dormant volcano.

That's just life in California. It's the same thing as people in the South living their lives while knowing that a freak hurricane could come and level everything to the ground. Or people in Cascadia living their lives while knowing that a volcano could erupt any second. Or people in the Midwest living their lives knowing that they could die in a blizzard.

Earthquakes in CA. Wow, good to know.
  • The long fault line can actually mean it'll be a less of an earthquake because the stress of the plate tectonics can be distributed for miles

props to the genius engineers who decided to build and continue building a city over a ticking bomb

Don’t forget to cover the Newport-Inglewood fault line!!
  • This just in: Massive earthquake could return property values to "within reason"
  • @KremitDeFrog
so what's going on in LA they don't want us to be paying attention to? Cause a threatening fault line is a dime a dozen out there..

I had a girlfriend from there her parents lived on the coast..when the you went in the backyard the terrain had the starestep look ..the land dropped down and you were looking at the roof of house..it was beautiful..on clear days you could see the Catalina Islands.

Rancho Palos Verdes? Oh, noooooooooooooooooooooo! * meh * California and Baja California is saturated with tectonic faults, but because this is Rancho Palos Verdes of course it's news worthy. Insurance policies be like cha ching

I've been hearing about The Big One for 50 years. Still waiting.....😆
  • Nice to hear while I'm vacationing in Laguna Beach for another week. if it happens after I leave, maybe the beach will move closer to Phoenix for me :)
