Imagine being a critic and saying "i hated that movie but im gonna give ot four stars" its absurd. Dave is absurd. Al has forgotten more about wrestling than dave has ever known
  • @ChaosSkye
It's crazy the amount of wrestlers willing to break their bones and have repeated concussions just to win dave's approval.
  • @davidjsaul
Al Snow is an actual wrestling expert unlike the incredibly deluded Meltzer. Snow has been a wrestler, producer, trainer and I think also a booker across multiple promotions in his career. "Expert" Meltzer can't even tell when he's commenting on a Triple H interview which is ten years old.

Dave 5 star Metlzer that never gave Kurt Angle a 5 star match
  • @nellsun2521
I never understood why so many mark channels mention Dave's name and his star-ratings whenever they're doing a deep dive on an old event. He's certainly fooled a lot of people.
  • So by Dave's hypocritical logic, Ultimate Warrior would have several 4 & 5 Star matches today. Good grief 🙄 lol 😂
  • 4:46 That means he believes he is the ultimate impartial authority on wrestling critique & 100% bought into his own bs. "I'm so rational & impartial, that none of my critque comes from my biases" but that's literally impossible as a human being.

A meaningless ''this is awesome'' chant or a standing ovation from 3000 nerds in a building that holds 18000 does not mean it is great storytelling or a great match, they are no different than a gameshow audience clapping when the sign lights up.
  • Eddie Kingston has been given a five star match rating by Dave Meltzer. Kurt Angle never has. This is who people are risking life, limb, wellbeing, and credibility for.

You KNEW Meltzer couldn't stay away! He's worse than the stray neighborhood cat!
  • @kevinpowell8093
What I don't understand is why they do these dangerous moves when no one remembers them a month after there done.
  • @awelshwhale
I never thought the madman who wrestled a prostetic head would be the wisest ex wrestler of them all. Al Snow is a legend

What I got from this segment, not only did Meltzer go to clown school, but his brother actually graduated from it with a specialty in professional juggling.

As a musician, it’s similar to playing guitar. You might be able to play the most intricate solos from other people, and be the best shredder and play every yngwie malmsteen song, but can you write a song or a hook that people want to listen to? Can you start small and slowly progress to that big ending, that big payoff that keeps the listener engaged? Or are you just doing a 3 minute shred fest? It’s cool and all, it takes talent and a lot of hard work, im not saying it’s easy. But at some point it’s like ok well there’s no substance, nothing to grasp onto. And yes, I know there’s a market for that, again I’m not saying that won’t get you anywhere, but there is a cap on how far you’ll go as far as audience reach. If you’re ok with that then more power to you, but don’t think you can be the next Beatles just because you can play a minor pentatonic scale faster than everybody else. Just my opinion.

I never understood why fans and wrestlers care about what this superfan thinks?

Al makes a great point about talent wanting Dave's approval. A lot of talent would rather get approval from Dave than the guy who writes their checks.
