Shadow home secretary James Cleverly hints at Tory leadership bid

James Cleverly has told Sky News there is a "reasonable chance" he will enter the Conservative Party leadership race.

Nominations will open on Wednesday for the three-month contest to replace Rishi Sunak.

A new leader will be announced on 2 November.

Possible contenders include former immigration minister Robert Jenrick, former home secretaries Suella Braverman and Dame Priti Patel, shadow security minister Tom Tugendhat and shadow communities secretary Kemi Badenoch.

    I feel ashamed that he is my mp. He needs and the party needs to realise how angry the British public are and still think some people in the party like him haven’t done a foot wrong. Get a proper job.

    14 years of failed politics and already criticizing the new government who are just 3 weeks in office. Maybe sort out your own problems first like the biggest problem the Tories are facing: shift towards Reform or regain the middle ground. This is the main question the public wants to see answered.
