Now that we have some solid custom firmware options for these two devices, let's do a final review and see if these budget handhelds are worth it in today's saturated market.

I would so appreciate a Batocera setup guide as well, Russ. Just ordered the 35XX H after watching this review. Been watching your videos for almost a year, and this is the first retro handheld system I'm finally pulling the trigger on! You're the best!

Personally the 3.5" screen is one of the biggest reason it hasn't sold as well in my opinion. The majority of people that are into these older systems are a little older and would definitely appreciate a larger screen.

That Ape Escape pronunciation had me in tears 😂. Great review bro, love your content

Perfect timing, just received my RG35XX+ today! :) Would love to see a full guide for installing Batocera!
  • @zaxbit
Your timing is impeccable. I bought one the other day to gift a friend who loves N64 games (so MM+ was a no go), was unsure what CFW to use for him until now! Thanks!

I rarely leave any comments on YouTube, but this time I have to. This review was INSANELY helpful. I was considering to buy the RG35XX H until I watched your original review and noticed the horrible stock OS. However, after watching this updated review, I decided to give it a try and bought it. But your video didn't just help me make a buying decision. It also gave me the right pointers to get started with Batocera and to figure out which emulation options to focus on when a game doesn't run smoothly out of the box. I was quite surprised that the device not only plays all the MS DOS, Game Boy and SNES classics from my childhood but also runs a lot of great ScummVM and PSX games like "Broken Sword" and "Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2". It even handles the PSP version of "Def Jam: Fight For NY - The Takedown" flawlessly, one of my favorites from that era! It's a lot of gaming joy in a very tiny package, thanks a lot for updating your review!

I wanted to give a big thank you and compliment that you are one of the best. If not, thee best retro game handheld reviewer. Excellent content, Detail, In top notch quality. Keep on keeping on!🎮
  • I used the Batocera for three weeks. The largest drawback is the battery life, which drops quickly whether you use it or not—it takes just one day as opposed to three days with the original OS.
  • Yay, another video. I will send you 20 bucks. I bought the Miyoo Mini Plus and the Odin 2 Pro based on your recommendations and your good guides.

This video has a lot of positive energy it moves me quite a bit, especially the last minutes. Thank you Russ

I can't get over the Ahpeh Escahpeh pronunciation XD Reminds me of Matt McMuscles for some reason
  • @NickHansen19
Would love to see a setup guide for this, as well as how to update as the developer releases update for the RG35XX Plus/H. Thanks for all the hard work you do for this hobby!
  • @jaysonbaudot
The world needs a setup guide!!! I can do it myself but its more fun following along with your videos
  • Aw man I'd love a setup video, I just bought rg35xxh (my first emulation device) using the promo you posted recently. Your content has been super helpful while I'm learning more about all this ❤
  • @cgreeen
I would love a full setup guide! I'm working through it now for my rg35xxh but I'm sure i've missed things. Thanks for the vids!
  • Batocera is great on my steam deck, highly recommended ! I just ordered the RG35XX+ from your link, so thankyou. Now I'm just looking for the correct batocera download.

I also heard from other sources that the HDMI out didn’t have audio, but I have the H model and can confirm it does with the stock firmware on my TGL smart tv. Everything about the HDMI works perfectly for me, including aspect ratios.
