If Mark Rippetoe can teach Freddie Mercury to power clean, I gotta listen to him.

Starting strength put over 30 pounds on my shitty scrawny little body in under a year, and I wasn't even eating as much as prescribed because I sucked at eating enough the first couple of months (used to be borderline anorexic) Mark Rippetoe is the king of no-bullshit teaching and no-bullshit training routines.  On Starting Strength my squat went from 95 to 260, bench from 60 to 160, deadlift from 145 to 310, press from 45 to 105 and bent over row from 70 to 165, I didn't do powercleans because I had a really hard time learning them..

"THE ARMS HAVE NOTHING WHAT SO EVER TO DO WITH THE CLEAN" he stared into my soul.
  • Don't agree with everything he says about power training, but this is by far the best power clean mechanics video I've seen imo
  • "We don't care if you got your vertical from 18 to 36. You didn't, but if you did, it doesn't matter". Brilliant

Mark Rippetoe is absolutely my favorite instructor.
  • "Now it's heavier, what you gotta do? .... JUMP HARDER" Best response ever! Wish I had such trainer. 😊😊

he is such a fucking good coach

Gotta love Rip, he's been explaining this to newbies for years and gotten it down to a t. And that subtle bashing of crossfit made smile.

Great teaching. Almost exactly as I was taught. I think Mark Rippetoe not only explained the steps very well but explained, mechanically, why it is so.
  • first started with Rippetoe's 3x5 routine workout when i was a 6 months rookie over a decade ago. It got me good gains and i gained 40 kgs in squats and deadlifts when doing it. He knows what he's talking about

What a great fuckin teacher. No wasted words, every thing was a clean and clear point to progression.

Rippetoe is THE MAN! I have learned so much over the years reading his books and heading his advice on programming and training. I have never seen power cleans taught this way and this by far seems to make more sense to me than any other tutorial I have read or watched. Thanks!
  • @Magician12345
i get the feeling that he's just tired of explaining this shit
  • Thanks for a really interesting series, Brett! Really appreciate you putting yourself out there in front of us viewers. Being willing to be criticized by both trainer and viewers says a lot about your character. Well done, sir!

Using this doll, tell me where the barbell touches you.
