"Here is a list of the best guitarists to ever live. Note however, that ability to play guitar is not a requirement to make the list"
  • @miparedro76
A greatest guitarists list of all time without Allan Hodsworth? What?
  • @johnhughes3214
No Allan Holdsworth, Yngwie Malmsteen, Al Di Meola or John Petrucci? Clearly there is a level of technical proficiency above which a guitarist was ineligible for inclusion on this list.
  • @jonlennon3348
They left Glen Campbell off the list one the best if not best session players and solo careers of all time.
  • @laartwork
Peter Frampton has technique, feel, influence and songwriting. Not to mention record sales.

There's a lot of bad stuff on the list. Gilmour at 28 is bad, Clapton at 35 is awful, Vai at 127 is ridiculous, Allan Holdsworth not being on the list should send someone to prison. I don't understand a lot of people trying to discredit what Clapton did. I get that he said some horrible stuff, but we should separate it. His 60s run is enough to have him around top10. Beano album, disraeli gears, wheels of fire, layla....EVH said Clapton was his biggest influence, Brian May said he was his hero, Gilmour mentioned the beano album as one of his favourites, he was the guy the Beatles called to record the solo on While My Guitar Gently Weeps (and what a solo!). Yes, his solo career went on a different route, the drug problems and all that. But he did more then 95% of the list only during the 60s. Paul Gilbert, Riche Kotzen, George Benson, Albert Lee, Marty Friedman, Mustaine, Peter Frampton, Gary Moore and we can keep going.

A list without George Benson or Phil Keaggy is not a list.

Alan Holdsworth? Lonnie Mack? Al Di Meola? Leo Kottke? What are they? Chopped liver? Sheeesh! I'll restrain myself when it comes to placements on the dumb list.
  • @JIMMYBUSHIDO
Joe Bonamassa Eric Gales Pac de Lucia Gary Moore Terry Cath. If I had all of the above in a top ten, you couldn't argue And Putting Clapton at 35, whether you like him or not, is next to Hendrix as the most influence on other guitarists 21:22

David Gilmour no need to say anything more. ~~~SHINE ON 💎 ~~~ 🎸
  • @circycle
No Allan Holdsworth, Joe Pass, Guthrie Govan, Yngwie Malmsteen, Julian Bream is surprising for a list of 250 guitarists. I am seeing Nels Cline
  • @karlnapf6304
GaryMoore? Tommy Emmanuel????? Alvin Lee? Petrucci? and Vai ... ok, very downrated... Rolling Stone, woh do you think you are?
  • @supertramp78
How has Steve Morse not made any list of top guitar players.
  • Not Listed- Paul Gilbert, Joe Bonemassa, Zakk Wylde, Gary Moore, Allan Holdsworth, Michael Schenker, Angel Vivaldi, Yngwie Malmsteen, Robin Trower, Ace Frehley, Marty Friedman or Dave Mustane, John Petrucci, Buckethead, Eric Gales, George Lynch, Marcus King, Guthrie Govan, Jason Richardson.
  • @PdaMack
No Alan Holdsworth? That's the capital offence
  • @JeromeDukes
If body of work was a criteria that had weight behind it, Alex Lifeson should be top 10. BTW, Jeff Beck should be top 3 easily. The thing about Beck that separates him from most of the greats is, he uses the mechanics of the guitar to get melodic sounds you generally don't hear coming from a guitar. This adds to his creativity and he took guitar playing to heights never seen before. Lastly the biggest omission from RS's list is Gary Moore, when it comes to makes the guitar speak, he's just might be my favorite guitarist of all time.
  • @gerardcote8391
Just watched Rick Beato take. You guys popped uo next. Again RS makes a list with amorphous requirements that allow them to pick people who can barely play, and say that they somehow fill the requirements. No Al DiMeola, no Yngwie Malmsteen, no Alan Holdworth... list is crap automatically.
  • @annabulgariu3707
Marty friedman. Petrucci. Allan Holdsworth, Dave Mustaine, Ingwie, Paul Gilbert, Buckethead... i can go on for days.. this list is rubbish
  • @justaguy2365
Alan Holdsworth not being on the list is totally absurd. He deserves top 20 at least. I'm glad to see SRV not in the top 10 finally. And where the hell is Michael Hedges? The omissions are insane considering hiw many nobodies are on there.
