Today we take a look at a gas can that doesn’t make me dread using it. The SureCan solves all the problems I’ve had with all the other gas cans I’ve ever used. As long as it holds up to the abuse of bouncy around in the back of my truck I can’t see how you can go wrong with this gas can.

Surecan seems like it was designed someone that actually wanted to make a safer gas can, not a journey into malicious compliance. All it needs is a keeper for the spout cap.

I like VP race fuel jugs. Cheap, color coded for different fuels, 6gal, empty completely. They fixed the regulatory problem with a sticker that says "not for fuels."
  • Growing up, my grandmother kept her lawn mower gas in a glass gallon cider jug. It never got broken, and you got really good at carefully pouring. 😅

One of my prized possessions is a 5 gallon metal gas can that was my grandfather's. It's got a squeeze handle & a separate spring loaded filler cap. I've had it 25 years now & besides making a little round cork gasket it's never broken or failed to be the best gas can I'll probably ever own !

My neighbor's new 5-gallon plastic gas can blew into my yard once during a storm. I asked him if he wanted it back and he said that he thought that he'd thrown it away. I use it as a spare during the summer when I'm mowing a lot. I just uncap it -- I've never figured out how the nozzle works.

I run a small lawn care business and I use these daily and have for a couple of seasons. They are great cans none of mine have sprung any leaks around the moving parts. I would recommend them for anyone who needs to lug gas around for whatever reason.

Glue a magnet to the can and a piece of washer to the small lid.

As someone who is disabled, this is SO helpful. Honestly. For some of those cans, you need 2 hands just to open the top let alone hold it to the lawnmower. One can I duct-taped the release tightly to keep it open.

When i was a kid, Jerrycan was the only known container for gasoline. You really learned precision pouring when filling up the lawn mower from a 20L (5.3 US gal) Jerrycan
  • WW2 og Jerry can 75 yrs old and still holds gas With a funnel there is no mess. Happy fueling folks. 😅
  • I have every type you've shown in this video (except for the new SureCan) and more, and my god are all of them annoying as all hell to use. I usually end up taking the entire neck off and dumping them upside down into one of my VP Racing jugs and use that until empty and continue filling that each time with others because I've sworn off using the lot of them. Of course the VP Jugs are now "illegal" in my state, and I have to find odd ways of getting more. So this might be the 1st non stupid one I'd consider buying - as i don't ever remember actually BUYING any of the others, they sort of just accumulate like a cancer.
  • I'm impressed that a new can is actually an improvement on old ones instead of a POS

I have a no-spill I got from ace hardware that works pretty well. Govt made requirements but it was the companies who made the crap products.
  • The little things that make your job more enjoyable or less excruciating are absolutely worth every penny. Thanks

Surecan is the real deal. The company i work for did their security system, toured their manufacturing. The owner was a super nice lady, showed us the process and told us their history working for GM and how they used to make fuel reservoirs for cars and used their expertise to make the best gas can ever. They gave us some to take home!

I still use the Eagle gas can I inherited from my grandfather.

Very nice! A gas can that works properly is one of those things we can't appreciate until we've struggled with bad ones. Just picked up a 5 gallon Eagle can. Metal, round, wide base and the funnel can permanently attach so you never lose it. Love your vids!

I tried SureCan a few years ago on the farm. Worked fine for a few months then started leaking. I think that is why they bumped up the warranty. Also doesn't flow as fast as the VP jug. My preferred gas solution is to use the VP Racing fuel jug from Amazon. Simple, durable, fewer moving parts and less cost.

I have had one of these over 10 years now. The early ones didn't have the vent/fill cap but did have a keeper for the spout cap. Saved our behind during a hurricane when a tree fell on the generator and busted the tank. The sure can spout fit perfectly over the fule line and kept the generator running all week
