This week, we're double-dipping in the world of Dan Harmon's lovable, irreverent collegiate caricature: Community. I'm here to defend the "weird" favorite food of Abed Nadir: buttered noodles. Yes, that impossibly plain side dish/cafeteria filler/thing you eat when you're sick. With a few simple tricks, we can upgrade this ubiquitous underdog into something worth making all on its own.

  • It has been correctly pointed out to me that the third pasta resembles cookies and cream pasta. Next week I guess?

You took Buttered Noodles to ~𝓑𝓾𝓽𝓽𝓮𝓻𝓮𝓭 𝓝𝓸𝓸𝓭𝓵𝓮𝓼~. Very jealous of that sourdough bread and butter noodle.

Babish: “In order to prevent kinky pasta.” Pasta: “I like feet” Babish: “Shut up.”

I'm here because of trisha and her love of buttered noodles. She is not wrong they look amazing 😋
  • Babish: "Pasta al burro". Me, who last took Italian lessons back in highschool about thirty years ago: "Pasta with... donkey?"
  • @chrizzlybearlol
“European butter” or as we Europeans call it “butter”
  • @bodelicious6447
“Haven’t got a manicure in a while” Bougie with Babish.
  • Fun fact, every time you call pasta "noodles" an Italian spontaneously combusts in anger. Needless to say the fire services were very busy when this video came out
  • Untill today I never knew this was a proper dish. I didn't know you could just make it. I would have it when my mom made spaghetti, and often would sneak a second bowl- without any sauce. I felt so guilty doing this, like I was eating desert without dinner first. I feel validated seeing this in doing that though.

Babish: shakes his fork when he likes the food Also babish: eats buttered noodles, fork vibrates at the frequency of the universe
  • ...So we will make everything from scratch * Starts planting wheat for the pasta dough *

I've been making this for years and the key is the addition of some of the pasta-water back to the pan when you butter the noodles. Like the gentleman says, it makes it more like a sauce than just noodles soaked in butter. It's smoother, richer and creamier.

I still remember my college days of making buttered ramen noodles with parm cheese and garlic. It ain’t fancy, but it ain’t bad.

Babish's hands are like a dog's tail - whenever they like something, they wiggle around...

"The first thing you need for buttered pasta is your butter. I'm not really a fan of the packaged stuff they sell at stores, so what we're gonna start off with here is one infant cow..."
  • @sophiestrano
At first I was like “hm, Babish pays for manicures in New York?” and then I realized this dude is literally a hand model essentially
  • @owlwhisker0w031
Can you make a series like “making bad things good” where you take typically gross or bland foods and make it good
  • Babish: "Fancy Shmancy European butter" Me watching this in Germany: "You mean... butter?"
