In the words of Meat Loaf, "Don't be sad, 'cause two out of three ain't bad"

yep, It didn't have enough TEA-TEB for ignition in 2 of 3 engines. hit the water next to the drone ship at 300MPH. They were likely waiting to know exactly what happen before announcing anything in the live stream. They said that they are going to make a montage if they can recover the video.

Rapid Unplanned Dunking.

Landing at 300 mph was pretty hard on the barge but hey, its just a barge. The center stage was going to be scrapped as was the boosters. That rocket was really just a test bed. They already have the next generation Falcon Heavy built and ready to assemble. Musk said he wasnt concerned about the loss, just the fact someone didnt calculate the nessary fuel needed to reignite all three engines upon landing. A problem you can bet will NOT be repeated.

Let's call it a "Rapid Unscheduled Disassembly"...
-
I think it was a great success! A problem like that has a much simpler fix to it than any of the other things that could have gone wrong. Hopefully there is no major damage other than being wet so they can look it over before building the next one.

Frame 4 you can see something in the top right, maybe the core flying past? I think the thing in frame 5 is debris from it impacting.
-
It’s a shame they didn’t continue the footage, they said they lost the signal but when you see the two presenters speaking you can see it continuing on a monitor behind them.

According to ol'Musky, the core landing burn failed to start all three engines and it hit the water at 300mph.
-
Wow, seemed really close to the platform !
-
rip Centre core
-
The center core was only able to relight one of the three engines necessary to land, and so it hit the water at 300 miles per hour about 300 feet from the drone ship. As a result, two engines on the drone ship were taken out when it crashed, SpaceX CEO Elon Musk said in a press call after the rocket launch. “[It] was enough to take out two thrusters and shower the deck with shrapnel,” he said.

Landing gear in that frame???
-
looks like it just missed the platform and landed in the ocean. still a very good launch
-
clang .....grid fin flies past
-
There is a small part in spacex's new video that shows it
-
Top left at frame four is another, that sucks.
-
I hate it when that happens.

Elon confirmed at the press conference that the core booster ran out of the igniter fluid and could not start the center engine for the landing burn. The overall flight is of course a crazy success!
