This is such a great use for this lot. Not falling into the trap of pre-ordering For Rent but extremely excited to see you play with it to get a feel for how it performs. You've built some pretty great apartments recently!

Del Sol Valley really should have had apartments like this. Ooh and a nice Melrose Place / Spanish Revival complex. Yesss
  • @anigodess
I kinda wanna see the original Bigwallet Art Gallery remade into apartments

Me: do I build apartments for my game when the new pack is out, or do I watch some videos? James: uploads Me: easy choice made

Definitely think a duplex or even triplex would be great on the lot next to this build. More builds would make this small neighborhood feel more lively. :)

As an LA native, thank you James! These are exact apts we have riddled in spots exactly like this lot in residential neighborhoods, and you're right it fits so much better as a whole picture. Ahhhh I can't wait to play~ Edit: I just realized I knew that apt (before it got tore down lol) small world lol~
  • I grew up (80s-90s) in a similar looking apartment in CA. 1 bathroom, 2 bedroom. Terracotta orange carpet, avocado green linoleum and dark brown cabinets. Yes, they had been updated. In the 50s.....

12:44 beige is a sad but realistic color scheme for the kitchens in an apartment complex, at least in all the apartments I've been in; either that or wood color 😂

Love it! This apartment style is called a “Dingbat” and is especially common all throughout Los Angeles. They were built during the building boom of the 1950’s and 60’s. There are so many whimsical designs around that are just amazing. I live in one myself. Can’t wait for the pack to come out, I’ll be going dingbat crazy!
  • These apartments style you built has an interesting history! They were built as cheap temporary housing but ended up sticking around for a lot longer than Intended. But now they're not up to code due to not being earth quake safe and lacking windows In certain rooms. Lovely build!

James you are killing it lately with those builds! Can't wait for the pack and the new videos!! ❤

Please don't get me wrong, I always loved your builds...but lately your builds have been off another level! You seem really inspired by this new release and I can't wait to see what your going to build when it's really coming out! ❤

I’m glad to know that I’m not the only one referencing IKEA as I build in The sims 4, I come home from IKEA with notes for my Sims’s builds.

As an American who has lived in several apartments, I gotta say you got a lot of things right. The different times of updating kitchens, the super unequal sizing of bedrooms, the popcorn ceilings. The only thing I personally think is "incorrect" is the overhead lighting in the living space. Dining and kitchen, yes, but in the living room, you're almost always expected to provide your own lighting. Usually one of the light switches is connected to certain outlets. Here we just have the Auto Light setting
  • This style of mid century apartment building with the overhang over the parking are called Dingbats, popular as an affordable housing solution across the Sun Belt states in the US. Often they were built in low density residential neighbourhoods, replacing single family homes, and often given ridiculous grandiose names written in cursive on the side of the building.

This lot is PERFECT for an apartament building. I have never used it, because it's too big for this kind of neighbourhood imo, and now I can!

I've actually been to Hollywood and this build feels so much like a lot of the older art deco style buildings!
  • @LAURA---
This really reminds me of Roaring Heights (?) from TS3! Loved the Art Deco style of that world 🙌🏼💚 I really want to try and recreate some of those lots in TS4 now!
