Making EXTREMELY pure silver from old CIRCUIT BREAKERS and silver jewelry

Published 2024-05-19
Hello guys
In todays video i will be making wery pue (995.) silver from old czechoslovakian circuit breakers and fuew pieces of old silver jewelry.

First the silver was weighted and dissolved using nitric acid. Afterwards the soluton was filtered and the liquid was collected. Then, Fuew pieces of copper scrap were dropped in causing a double displacement reaction to occour, wich precipitated the silver metal out of solution. After that the silver powder was washed fuew times with distilled water dried and weighted.
The yield was 89%.

Warning:
This video vas made mostly for demonstrational pourposes. If you try to recreate anything you see here, you are doing it at your own risk!

  • Dear sir, if gold is in powder ( DUST ) form, can it be dissolved in nitric acid?

It is safer to add acid to water than to pour water into acid.

I thought that breakers might have cadmium in them which is toxic

Make a Video Cementing Copper From Solutions. Nobody does that or cares to get the Copper Out and Melt it with Gold and Silver. etc.
