The 21st century has erased the relative anonymity of the public square. Street surveillance is so advanced and ubiquitous today that anyone and everyone can be identified and tracked at a distance without consent.

No one should have a reasonable expectation of privacy when in public. But that doesn’t mean we still don’t have sensitive information that we would not want to be tracked. Health insurance companies would certainly want to pick up on the spike in your recent visits to the pharmacy. A victim of domestic abuse wouldn’t want to be followed by an AI tool rented by their abuser. A protester might want to join the cause but can’t afford the risk of being identified and have the police visit their home.

Nothing you do in public can be considered private. But if you can be anonymous, then it’s all you need to prevent linking your public activities to your identity.

Being anonymous when everyone is watching sounds like a skill reserved only to the top secret agents from a spy movie. But with a number of tweaks, you can render much of street surveillance tech and tactics useless.

An important thing to note about "le greyman" is that most people trying a greyman look way too hard and end up looking WAY more suspicious. Yes, you're covering up your face and head, wearing long sleeves, and absolutely no logos or tattoos showing.... but you're also walking through LA in the summer. A real greyman is someone who looks completely unremarkable and their look makes sense in context.

this is the single only reason i want to go back to the early 2000's, i want out of this bullshit, i want to go out and wear shit i like, and go wherever i like, say whatever i like, and not be fucking 1984'd

One of the clearest videos on being anonymous without any bs
  • Pro tip, keep glowsticks in your bag. Use them to blend in with the feds when things go South.
  • @tanostrelok2323
At this point, the world of 1984 feels like a relaxing walk on the beach

Dude, I’m always learning a lot from you, I’m always taken aback about how much quality and polish goes into your videos.
  • 1. Stop being a phone addict 2. Wear mundane clothes 3. Put on a mask and hat 4. Stop being a phone addict seriously just find a trashcan bro

Some faster quick change options include just putting on, or even better, taking off a hat. If you are wearing a t-shirt with a distinct logo on it, just turn it inside out while you're passing around a corner. If you combine both of these, you have a new look in under 5 seconds, and don't need to be traveling with any kind of backpack.
  • @rraygen
Just be careful WHERE you perform your quick change. Like, if you quick change in a underpass, and you where the only person to enter and exit that underpass, they can do 1+1 and know it's still you but just with different clothings. INB4: Do a quick change in a unmonitored AND crowded area! So you'll blend in with the crowd when returning into a monitored area.
  • We need to make some politicians feel genuinely threatened by the AI facial recognition so that they will actually do something to protect everyone
  • @nayastill151
If a permanent tattoo can compromise you, how about applying a temporary tattoo to misguide the police?

Thank you for the very important work that you do. More people should do this

When picking a burner phone, id recommend picking one with an easily removable battery due to the fact you can never really "switch off" a modern smartphone. If you were to get a smartphone as a burner, even if its switched off its still pinging nearby cell towers and therefore can be tracked back to your house. Edit to add some more points: With social media, try to avoid using your real name. always have different usernames per account, that way they cant be linked together making it harder for people to build a profile on you. Regarding the quick change thing, you dont really need to carry that much. Take a different hoodie, hat and maybe a pair of shoes, wear some generic looking pants and put a different looking bag in with the quick change outfit to make yourself look as different as possible.
