the early app store, a place of wonder... and mystery..., I forgot to mention it here but remember "wallpaper" apps? maybe it was just a me thing, but I would browse through those constantly, that's where i got most of those domo wallpapers.

Thank you so much for watching. What are some apps you played in the early 2010s? Did I miss some crucial one somehow? let me know in the comments

I didn’t even think about that fact that all we do is scroll. I never tilt or move my phone for any purpose. Often when I’m on my phone I just think that I could be on my computer for a much less frustrating experience. Only reason for a phone is videos and being able to scroll while laying flat in a bed. At least we got tap tap back now!!

“If you didn’t have an app, who the fuck even are you” probably has to be the best thing ever said

cannot lie, the fact that i can't go in and redownload so many of these old apps that i used to mess with on my mother's old 1st gen ipad we won off a radio show has been haunting me for years. i really hope that in the future, even as what's created and shared online all at once increases at an exponential rate, we're better able to archive those sorts of serverside games for that one little guy years down the line who thinks "man i'd love to go back and play tap birds on ios created by gameview studios just to remember what it was like."

Your script and pacing is getting so good. I forgot I was watching a video because I got so into the topic LOL. Keep up the good work!!
  • @alexosow
I just realized this video only has 720 views you could've convinced me it had 100k

why do you always hit the perfect fucking point of nostalgia to make my brain happy bjiru , THE SKEUOMORPHISM OF THIS ERA IS BEAUTIFUL. u are my new favourite channel cant wait 2 see what u do next

I noticed that there were a lot more one-trick-pony apps in the store back in the 2010s - we all remember classic mobile games like Flappy Bird and Angry Birds, but nobody seems to remember those one-gimmick apps that only did, well, one thing, and that one thing was their entire gimmick. I remember, before iPads got flashlights, there was an app called Flashlight that would display different colors or patterns on screen. You could do fun things like have Christmas lights or Halloween decorations and stuff. These types of apps simply don't exist on the modern App Store anymore because the quality control is much, much higher.
  • Wow, this video is really good! The editing is quick and snappy, the humour is on point, and it’s amazing how underrated you are! Subbing for more amazing content like this.
  • @matrucious
Those transitions! I don't know how but your amazing pacing and editing is somehow getting even better! Love it :)

tap tap revenge is literally responsible for my emo phase (and consequently it never ending… i still have the same taste). i found paramore and blink-182 from playing it, re-ignited my love for sum 41, and it all snowballed from there
  • @26cybruh
unrelated to the video, but the Urbz music used as the bgm is bringing so much nostalgia rn 🥺
  • @SiixVTuber
I remember getting my first ipod touch. The first things i downloaded were the lighter and whip crack apps. All of the useless gimmick apps were so full of charm. I miss a lot of those games from that era that havent been supported since ios 4. Great video man! Your editing is top notch. Be kind to Garfield okay. Hes trying :(
  • @seanguy9720
Great video! Idk if this fits your video style, but maybe a video on “jailbreaking” Apple devices? Remember it was a big thing before like 2014. Apple has made it practically impossible to do anymore.
  • @irl_dogboy
this video was so good!!!! a really nice trip down memory lane, made me pull out my old ipod to see what kind of apps my child brain downloaded those wallpaper apps that made it look like the apps on your home screen were sitting on shelves had quite the hold on me
  • @killerdane
OMG FLAPPY BIRD!! that short clip unlocked so many memories of rage and community as me and my classmates in middle school would compete and argue over who had the highest score. the only other thing that i remember making people as crazy was pokemon go when it first came out, oh wow haha. thank you for this!
  • @mmarceline3
wow, a lot of these awakened memories but talking carl was a big one lmao. thought you weren’t gonna include the zippo lighter but we’re safe! the most iconic of them all! a game my siblings and i played that i think was from the same was pocket god, obsessed with that one
  • @Alicat2911
The zippo app was my most used app on my ipod touch, the gentle clicking was so satisfying
  • @whatser4622
Good video. Short, interesting, good integration of the old iPod filming.

TTR3 was the absolute pinnacle. Remember all those nights in the multiplayer lobbies with your cool custom avatar and accessories????? forever do i pray that tap tap reloaded will one day make it big, just like the good old days.
