As a young man growing up in foster homes, I wasn't surrounded by many people who looked at themselves and their relation to their fellow man...I always questioned who I was and where I fit in the world.  Music was my escape from the sometimes. horrors of life...I found in the A.P.P musical catalog, another way to interpret what was going on around me. Some of the words in the songs really struck a cord with me...I saw that others questioned the world around them as I did...I am forever grateful to the people who gave me the music, and gave me the opportunity to know that I wasn't alone in the world...
  • This album is an Absolute Masterpiece & one of my favourites, ever. Still listening to it in 2024.

Alan Parson's Project wasn't just about good music, They were teaching you about life. My God, why don't we have groups like this still out there ?
  • Being young in the 80's was a great time, no social media crap, great music on the radio, and not to mention no mobile phones. It was a great time to be alive. The kids today don't know what they have missed. These are crazy times. Stay Safe everyone...

One of the greatest albums I've ever heard. Still listening to this in 2024!
  • I don't mind admitting that despite being a grizzled 68 year old man, the song Time brings tears to my eyes.

By the time you've finished this album, you know you've heard the peak state of badassery. One of the best albums ever made. Its the sickest outro ever recorded.

The Alan Parsons Project -- -The Turn of a Friendly Card---The Turn of a Friendly Card is the fifth studio album by the British progressive rock band The Alan Parsons Project, released in 1980 by Arista Records. The title piece, which appears on side 2 of the LP, is a 16-minute suite broken up into five tracks. The Turn of a Friendly Card spawned the hits "Games People Play" and "Time", the latter of which was Eric Woolfson's first lead vocal appearance. An edited version of the title piece combining the opening and ending parts of the suite was also released as a single along with an official video. As with the band's previous albums, The Turn of a Friendly Card is a concept album with its theme focused on the gambling industry and the fate of gamblers, with more than one reference to Las Vegas (e.g. "there's a sign in the desert that lies to west" from the title piece). Musically it's a more melodic and accessible album than its predecessors. Up to this album, all Alan Parsons Project albums had been packaged in gatefold sleeves. Increasing budgetary constraints of record companies made The Turn of a Friendly Card the beginning of all subsequently released Alan Parsons Project albums to be single-sleeve packaged. The album was recorded in a record short time of two weeks in Paris. Usually the Alan Parsons Project would take many months to record an album Track listing All songs written and composed by Alan Parsons and Eric Woolfson. Side one No. Title Lead vocals Length 1. I miss the simplicity of years past. When things were not complicated with MORE THINGS... appreciate the memories. Thankful for all the music therapy that helped me get through some of my darkest days. To Beat the bad out with the notes and not fists of fury... Music has a way of taking you places to escape the moment or to drift back to a time you cherish.
