That "ridge" is an anti-skate innovation that EMI (originally in the UK) introduced to prevent records from skating on automatic record changers. It was also common in Australia (from the early 1960s) on all EMI labels

The "Rain/Paperback Writer" is perhaps the greatest 45 RPM single ever produced. Plus, those songs never appeared on a proper chronological LP.

45s were so fun back in the 60s. I have some of the ones you have. The physicality of touching the record and looking at the grooves reflecting, you could see the music in a real way.
  • I love 45’s, They are thick, and tough, and even pretty beat up ones can be restored to sound better than new quite easily. Also, the pre ‘70s vintage ones are pretty much all in mono, much easier to find than mono LPs.
  • Thats cool !! i think PAIPERBACK WRITER/RAIN and WE CAN WORK IT OUT/DAY-TRIPPER are both worth to have !! also HEY JUDE !! cheers

I went to someone's house when I was in Middle School that had all the Capitol Records singles. I was in heaven!

I once bought a 30th anniversary re-release of I Want To Hold Your Hand in a record store for, I think, $15. Never again.

Cold turkey is actually my favorite Lennon solo album, next to mother

Crazy. I used to go to De Anza in the 90's and I was at that flea market all the time between the 80's and 90's.

I remember De Anza and Foothill College record swaps. Cool! 😎👍
  • I'm sure you've been told this before, but we hep cats in the sixties called these 45's. In fact, this may be the first time I have ever heard them referred to as 7 inchers.

I have a first pressing of "She Loves You" on the Swan label. I also have Get Back/don't let me down , Let it Be/You know my name, and Strawberry Fields Forever/ Penny Lane and Eight Days a Week/ I didn't want to spoil the party.

Pretty cool collection you got there.
  • I'm a huge Beatles fan, favourite band since I was seven or eight, I have some Beatles vinyl records, mainly new remasters, a 67 pressing of Pepper is my pride and joy, however you've inspired me to start collecting records more seriously, thanks, I love the content on this channel!

I really enjoyed this video. By coincidence, I was entering my Beatles and solo 45s into my Discogs collection earlier tonight.
