The Alien franchise is a beloved horror and sci-fi staple, so naturally Hollywood tries to breathe new life into it every few years. In 2012, Ridley Scott made his return to the universe of Alien with Prometheus-- a not-quite prequel that follows a space crew as they deal with some scary alien threats called Engineers.

Prometheus does raise some questions though. Like why haven’t the crew been briefed on their mission until AFTER they’ve been in cryo-sleep for several years? Why does everybody take off their helmets in an alien cave? How did they get lost in the cave with amazing mapping technology? Why did they suddenly want to touch that horrifying alien snake thing? Why did David spike Charlie’s drink? What was the point of Weyland plot twist? Why was that Engineer chasing Elizabeth at the end?

To answer all these questions and more, step inside the Pitch Meeting that led to Prometheus! It’ll be super easy, barely an inconvenience.

  • The 3rd cousin part finally explains that slight resemblance they share.

"Is there gonna be a big reveal later?" "No" -this movie in 10 words or less
  • @Manacra13
The amount of times he says “why would you do that?” And the response is “unclear” is too many times. It makes you wonder how this movie got past the pitch meeting in reality.

The archaeologist dude losing it after not seeing an Engineer but having all kinds of evidence of their presence killed the inner archaeologist in me lol.
  • It always bugged me that the guy who makes the maps is one of the ones who got lost, and the guy who specialised in living organisms didn't recognize obviously threatening behaviour.
  • 2:36 "David's just kinda doin stuff" Glad it wasn't just me who didn't understand what the hell this character's motivations were supposed to be.
  • "So, you've got an alien movie for me?" "Yes, sir, I kind of do." That's by far the best summary for this movie
  • @llongone2
"He was looking for a massive scientific breakthrough and all he got was a massive scientific breakthrough." - made me chuckle
  • @X24Paradox
"Is it a sequel, prequel, or reboot?" "Its something..."
  • @NewNicator
There was actually a scene of a young Guy Pearce on a 2020-something TED talk show, which was the only good thing in the movie so of course it’s only natural to delete it.

2:26 "And meanwhile on the ship, Charlie is all sad and depressed, now." "Oh, how come?" "Because he was looking for a massive scientific breakthrough and all he got was a massive scientific breakthrough." lol.
  • @fancifuldevices
This actually helped me understand that it wasn’t me being distracted- the movie really was this senseless. So thank you for that.
  • @courtney-ray
“So it’s gonna be like a big reveal later?” “No” This whole movie. 😶
  • "So did they all have to die?" "No it's because the movie is almost over and you know, may as well." LOL LOL LOL

As a huge fan of the Alien movies (the first 4) and also the books I was looking forward to this. I saw this in theaters. I've never been more disappointed in a movie. All the movie needed to do was: -Have Humanity encounter Engineer tech -Find a planet they 'cleansed" with the Xenomorph -Humans exploring it find things and die That's it. That was all that needed to happen.

The twist of them being identical 3rd cousins was way more shocking than any of the twists in Prometheus.

"So you say, the geologist gets lost in a cave?" - "He does, sir!" - "The one he just mapped with his cool mapping equipment?" - "One and the same!" - "And the biologist is scared of a dead alien body?" - "He basically runs away screaming!" - "But he tries to pet an unknown alien organism, because it looks cute?" - "Alive and cute, like a cobra!" - "It resembles a dangerous, venomous snake?" - "In total attack mode!" - "A very uneducated biologist." - "He dies." - "That is the crew for the trillion dollar expedition?" - "The best money can buy." - "Wow, wow, wow.... wow."
