I have found this show nine times before, maybe ten. And I will find it again.
There's nothing else like Station Eleven out there - from its first few minutes to its last, this is an absolute knockout story.
You might say it's...one in a thousand

it took five watch throughs to figure out Frank lived next to the conductor. I absolutely love this series.
  • For me, this is the most beautiful tv/streaming thing ever made. Tears me to pieces every time. And brings the remaining pieces back together.... I could watch this series forever; and I've read the Silmarillion 40 times.

My only regret I have is that I didn't see it sooner. Thanks for this wonderful synopsis. Easily the best thing I've seen in 2024.
  • @idab9958
Best breakdown I've seen of one of the best shows of all time.
  • Too few people know about this show and the book that inspired it. Thank you for this essay.

I'm taking a streaming break from Max but I miss the comfort of being able to just watch great shows like The Wire, The Leftovers, The Last of Us, and Station 11. I come to YouTube for little tastes of them, from time to time.  This video feels like someone's Masters thesis and I'm here for it since the subject is so worthy and the conclusions are expanding my love for a show I didn't know I could love more. Thank you!

I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a more perfect story on screen, except perhaps Dr. Zhivago!

Thanks for the essay! Three aspects that I've missed: the time loops or the revisting of past events as if they were present is a sign of PTSD and it really feels the same as present. So this aspect of trauma could have found through a sentence in your essey. Especially because the phrase "there is no before" resonates with this feeling: the past is present, there is no before (speaking about deeply traumatic life xperience) Another one is the manipulative nature of the Prophet and the fact that he instrumentalizes children same as Clark the airport people or the numorous examples human society as such. Thrid aspect is the story telling aspect: everyone tells a story to themselves and to others and often cannot exit the own creation in order to see outside of it. You only slighy brush upon it talking about Miranda.

Thank you for making a video about one of my favorite TV shows. Even though it is not widely known it’s a real gem waiting to be discovered one day
  • @DaleMcLain
Absolutely in my top 5! This show is so beautifully layered. It’s lyrical, visually brilliant, heartbreaking and lush with wild hope. Thank you so much for this wonderful commentary. I begged my son for almost 3 years to watch this. He finally relented and he loves it, too. And at last I have someone with whom I can discuss this very enchanting series. ✌🏻💙

My favorite show ever. Great work on this. Have been thinking of ANOTHER rewatch and now that this hit my algo I think I have to. Thank you for this video. Survival is insufficient
  • @jayc7559
Thanks for putting into words what I’ve been thinking about this show for so long
  • @andrewl5272
Easily the best show I watched in 2022. I was obsessed with this series.

I’ve been waiting and hoping for a video essay this thoughtful and in-depth on Station Eleven. Thank you so much for this 🙏🏻 You’ve gained a fan.
  • @gorogs
It's so true that, as time passes, the more I think about Station Eleven and the more I love it. What a beautiful, thoughtful, well-informed analysis. Made me want to rewatch the show again. Thanks for the essay <3
  • @uguessuguess
This review and insight made me revisit the show a 2nd time... and a 3rd.... and as we hit spring... a 4th. Thank you for that :)

this is such an amazing essay! im working on my own at the moment, focused on the aspect of youth and the undersea, “there is no before”, radical revolution vs passive apocalpyse to tear down systems and a whole host of other stuff (very rough draft atm). I fully intend on citing this a few times!
  • I just finished watching it because of your suggestion! Gorgeous show, and love all your videos ❤

I also found alex intensely annoying. Just complete theater kid energy, which makes sense I suppose. Also, I found the catharsis of Tyler to be a little too easily obtained than it should have been. Even though he states that he didn't order the child suicide bombing, I felt that he still bore some responsibility for it, and he is basically never made to confront that.
