WONDERFUL video!!! My late wife and I rode the train back in the late 90s, and your video was a lot like the video I shot from the open car. I made great use of my 8-mm camcorder that day! And the cab rides are priceless. You should have included some pictures of the Hanging Bridge; that thing is unbelievable. And I loved the railroad sounds; they are so much better than the dipstick "music" that some insist on adding to their videos. One like because I can't give you a "love." Wonderful!

I live in Canon. You hear the horn even from the east end of town.

Glad to see some motive power at the rear of the train. I was thinking that a 14-car consist including 3 "Great Domes/Super Domes" was a bit much for an AB set pushing 60 years old.

WOW - Beautiful scenery. Love the open carriages. Great video.
  • The only crossing on the USGS 7.5' is a footbridge at 38 28.327 N, 105 21.246 W (paste coordinates into Google Earth). That bridge was used to access structures across the river. When hiking the gorge in '97, we figured it was the control house for a flume. If I had a better indication of where exactly in the canyon the abutments are, I might have more certainty to my guess.

Incredible video and scenrery! This is as good as it gets for all of the excitement on the river, the cab ride, the people and of course, the views! I saw a flashing yellow on a signal at 4:14. Do these signals still work? When I was visiting a friend in 2005, we went to the bridge above the railroad, but I never got to ride this train. Very sorry that I missed it as I live in Southern California. Thanks again! Keith Johns of Indio, Ca.
