Goku has just found Krillin. Left in the Tournament building lifeless on the floor. While the others look on in horror at what happened and discuss who could have done it, Goku is undergoing a change. Roshi is the first to spot it. It reminds him of the time Goku transformed at the first tournament, but there’s no moon anymore and even if there was - this is clearly different. His hair changes color and an aura flares around him. Goku quickly grabs the Dragon Radar from Bulma and calls the flying nimbus.
Roshi is astonished. He thinks Goku is still in over his head, but it’s possible with this power he might be able to actually challenge the demon clan. Whatever this change is, it made Goku something beyond normal. They have no way to know it yet, but Goku is a Super Saiyan.

Hope you liked some of the new visuals in this one like edited manga panels! Also no “part 2” I like ending What Ifs before the title character gets sidelined (like the Bardock what if) because making part 2 of “Super Saiyan Kid Goku” starring Gohan just seems lame and honestly forcing every What If to cover the WHOLE series is partially why I don’t like doing them as much as I used to. Tell me how you think the story would continue!

I would imagine the name "super saiyan" wouldn't even be a thing until Raditz mentioned it. Imagine if that form was called something like "Golden Goku" instead. I think that would've been awesome.

duuuude i cant tell you how much i loved this concept of changing one detail and continue the story from there, paired with the great narrative and the visuals this exercise is an exquisite way to explore more of the world of dragon ball! and the thought process into taking the story into a logic and cohesive way is just outstanding! thanks a lot for this video. i enjoyed my brains out!!!!

This is one of the sweetest What-ifs I've ever listened to! And I like the fact that it ended off where it did, because it really does feel like the proper end to a great story, even if there's still the cliff-hanger of whatever happens with Gohan's storyline afterwards. Also, the edited manga panels are cool af. They really helped with the immersion throughout the whole thing. Thanks a lot Carthu! :D
