That giant creature behind the shacklethorne auction map in payday 2 is called a nephilem, and is very important to the games lore.
  • @vahlok1426
The Payday 2 shadow-creature is not just a cool, creepy easter egg. It is also, no joke, incredibly important to the overall lore of Payday. You can even end up in a secret ending on the final heist where you fight Demon Cloakers and find what is essentially an Illuminati Pyramid, before helping a friend essentially soul transfer into another person. Seriously, Payday lore is insane.

For the Payday 2 secret. 1. Yes it's part of the games overarching story. 2. It can be seen in paintings across different heists. Check the paintings in "The diamond" job.
  • @critnoir9926
As for the payday sky monster, theres also a reference to it on one of the paintings in the auction house. Apparently they are in lore god-like monsters
  • @casually784
Finally, thank you for Payday 2. As for the easter egg: It shows up randomly, no matter where you are and I know for sure that it also shows up on the White House map. As for what it is it's a nephilim - sort of a in-universe ancient alien if I understand the lore correctly
  • @Microwave239
Payday Lore is off the charts level of insane, what appears to just be a cool, funny heisting game turns into a pseudo-lovecraftian tale the more you read into it.
  • @Emogeta
The lore in Payday 2 is weird. It involves the gold taken from The Secret in the first game and is used in an antient alien ritual as a alien artifact site buried under the white house. It involves stealing various boxes throughout the missions, a medalion from the Brooklyn heist, burning a book, assembling an alien artifact then make it resonate to the tune of a song you can play on a Piano in Scarface's Tony Montana's room (he is alive in this timeline), and invade the white house to discover an ancient vault that must be discipher using the language from the alien artifact you assembled. Oh, and shadow creatures are attacking you white you are cracking the ancient alien vault. Then ends with killing Better Call Saul's Gus Fring and saving your man behind the screen, Bain, and swapping his mind into the President's body using the alien ritual since his body is dying from a mutated virus. Yes, this is a game about robbing banks.
  • 1:17 I’m surprised you didn’t mention the broken ledge, just like how Doc breaks it in the movie. That’s a detailed easter egg that I don’t think we’ve seen the like of before.
  • @theshyguy9855
Asterix & Obelix XXL 2 is basically "Video Game References - The Game feat. Asterix & Obelix". It is packed full of references and I am sure we will see it a lot more often on here. also, most references are super obvious, about as obvious as the Mario one you've shown here.
  • In the game "Outrider", there is a side quest where you collect Historical stuff that original came from Earth. One of those things is a book called Storm of Bullets, with the cover being from the iconic Bullet Storm game. Come to think of it, the historical stuff might just be full of Easter eggs
  • In Prey (2017), when you gain access to the Skill Recorder Room in the Neuromods Division, you can find a piano, which you can interact with. When you interact with it, the tune that plays is eerily similar to music from Dishonored, another Arkane title.

the reference to "big chungus" in ggc2 is actually the easter bunny because of the chocolate eggs near the dead bunny. it correlates to the Santa easter egg in level one because the game took a full year to make. so the devs added them as sorta milestones.
  • @victor-ev5ff
During the presentation of asterix, you're just passing by a yoshi's egg and the sly Cooper van in a roman form 😂😂
  • In Indiana Jones and the Emperor Tomb, during the second level, when you fly the plane like contraption and land to the next building, Indy will say, “ Sometimes, I even surprised myself,” which I feel like is a reference to Star Wars A New Hope where Han Solo says the same exact thing after dealing with the tie fighters.
  • @LBFescape
In back 4 blood, at the beginning of the "The Dark Before The Dawn" level, you can listen to the general and the EMT talk behind the closed barn doors, and the general mentions having to have coach from l4d2 on watch duty due to cleaner injuries
  • @AverageBroBro
I Modern Warfare 2019, on the map St. Petrograd. You can find an add on the train in the center of the map, that translates to Burger Town. Also, there’s another sign in the map “Crash”. I wouldn’t be surprised if there was more on different maps.
  • @RageChocobo
When it comes to Asterix & Obelix XXL 2, just pay attention to the areas you go through, you are bound to find PLENTY of easter eggs to other games and such
  • @cooperjx2847
about xxl2, it was one of my childhood games and the mario enemy comes back a few times, and it's not the only enemy that's a reference to something, there's a god damn lot of references. I wont spoil, just play through it
  • @CliffDiverBOA
Payday 2 has some secret lore about ancient beings and cults and whatnot. There's several steps you can take that unlocks a secret ending to Payday 2 involving some ancient vault and bunch of wild stuff. Even comes with a live action cutscene I believe.
  • the sky monster is actually one of the driving forces of the payday 2 lore, you can see another one on the whitehouse map mission and i think one other but i dont remember which one its in there
