• See final update video here:    • My Motherboard Situation Has Been Res...
• Update (6/17): MemoryC reached out with an apology and explanation, and offered several fair options to remedy the situation including a full refund option which I've decided to go with. They confirmed my hunch that the supplier (the one I mentioned at 7:47) to which they forwarded the board for repair had lost the board, and were upfront about the mistake in not sending an equivalent board and also not at least offering the replacement first, instead of just sending it unsolicited. They said my emails going un-answered was not intentional and that they don't operate that way, and explained it was because an upgrade to their ticketing system was causing my tickets to not show up for some reason. Which I assume is a simplified explanation but I guess I'll choose to take their word for it. Overall I'd say they seemed genuinely apologetic. I'll probably make a follow up video soon with more details once everything is fully sorted.
• Update 2 (6/18): I received the full refund today and have shipped back the Z690 Hero motherboard to them, so I consider the issue fully resolved.

I'm still stuck on the idea that a mobo can cost $1245!!!!!
  • @bluegizmo1983
Sending out a new motherboard that is worth half the original price is BS. If the same or real equivalent board is not available, they should've refunded the original purchase price!

Things like this scare me. If they dragged this through the year can they just say that the warranty expired ??

Your level of patience in this situation is so amazing.

I don't think ASUS is completely blameless. Who cares what region the serial number is for? It's a motherboard, repair it. ASUS US saying they can't do anything because it's a German serial number is a complete load of crap. They can absolutely still repair it. Soldering irons don't care what the serial number is. They're just using a technicality to get out of fixing it.

Most of us don’t have “don’t you know who I am” card to play. So I just lie that I’m Steve from GN and every RMA process has been butter smooth.

Usually when I see a jpeg of an American flag listed on any product, you know that something is up.

I had a problem with a third-party vendor (not MemoryC) on Walmart's site. In my case, I was sent a defective external optical drive and even though I contacted the vendor numerous times, I could not get a RMA or refund. Therefore, I contacted Walmart's customer service and they tried dealing with the vendor, but Walmart also experienced problems with them. Ultimately, Walmart issued me a full refund. If MemoryC does not solve the problem, I suggest getting Walmart involved. MemoryC probably does not want to lose their affiliation with Walmart, so they may have greater impetus to resolve the matter.
  • I hate these kinds of "legitimate" companies that don't even give a damn about their customers and they probably don't even know anything about the tech they are selling but they do it anyway. Companies like this really are a pain to deal with.

Last time I was this early to a ThioJoe video I was downloading more ram and wrapping my router in tinfoil
  • I had a similar experience with MemoryC. I was surprised to find out that products were sent over from Europe. Shipping wear was evident on arrival, but I ultimately accepted the product after I decided I would replace it in full from another retailer if it came to that. I will not order from them again.

The moral of the story for anybody who's TLDW. Don't buy motherboards from third party vendor websites aka wallmart.
  • @RazoBeckett.
my whole setup cost $1000, dudes mobo is that much ...
  • I'd just demand a refund via Walmart's website at this point.
  • Btw, the american flag is only displayed if your visiting the website in the US. I visited the website in the UK and it showed a UK flag in its logo

At least you were able to communicate with them directly and get answers (for a while). It's become very common with online businesses to encounter a wall of dropdowns and a chatbot which can only deal with certain issues and if yours is a bit different, forget it. Ghosting you was so unprofessional. Curiously, the YouTube ad that ran at the beginning was for a Memory C product.
  • That all "can't support for another country" should be illegal. A product is a product no matter where u get it. Assuming you buy original.
