I Tried To HATE Gran Turismo

gran turismo game series deserves to be on the top 50/100 games of all time. if we're specifically picking from the series then 2 and 4 are easily top 20 of their respective gaming generations. like the fact that I had such a big childhood with that game in the hood that i grew up in is crazy. had my older brothers and uncles playing it and watching me play it lol. DEF going after your recommendation.

The product placement didn't ruin the movie for me, and the video game moments weren't cringe in my opinion, because it gave a shout out and featured some of the Gran Turismo content creators on Youtube. I thought tha was nice touch! This movie is a 8.5 - 9 At least

Great review as always TBH. Just so you know… The big Rotten Tomato scores whether or not you'll like the movie. It's not actually a review of the movie. So the audience was 98% sure people would like the movie and critics were 60% sure.

The trailer made it look a lil cool tbh, the fact it was based on a true story makes it dope

I think not having a villain was a good choice. It put more focus on the person vs. self conflict with yan’s crash.

As a heads up. A 98% doesn't mean what most people think. It means 98% of people who reviewed it think it's worth watching

This movie was such a banger and easily the sleeper of the year when it comes to movies. Never would I ever have thought that a movie based on the Gran Turismo video game would genuinely be this good. An underrated gem truly

It's a Sony movie so I wasnt surprised about all the Sony placement. Aint gotta pay copyright or whatever to brands when you as the company make those same products, so just use your own product as a stand in. Otherwise, I loved the movie. Most of the ratings come from those who love GT which is why it's an overblown rating but for me personally the movie is an 8/10 or higher. Really enjoyed my time watching it. Im sure it'll go down as a classic racing/sports movie.

it was fine movie.

It was a solid sports movie. I'm not a gamer or into racing so some of the product placement and cringe moments you pointed out flew right over my head lol 🤷🏾‍♀️ That being said, I dont know what possessed me to want to see it in theaters (twice) but I think it's because the premise is really interesting. An amazing story. Competent likeable actors. Good emotional highs and lows. A protagonist you want to root for, and representation of a minority working class underdog in a rich "white" sport. The movie had all the right pieces. Execution could have been a better. Bad trailers, poor marketing, and unfortunately covid dragged it down.
