  • "The baby doesn't look like me." You're correct because all babies resemble potatoes so your argument doesn't stand up.

Man I cannot STAND the “the baby doesn’t look like me!” Argument. First of all, babies don’t look like anyone, second of all uuugh

I remember an episode of Maury where a 13-year-old pregnant girl came on the show, and the audience booed her as she came on stage. I felt bad because she actually seemed really worried about her situation and it didn’t help that she was being treated like that. It isn’t ideal that a 13-year-old is pregnant, but what’s done is done.

Jarvis having to confirm that he is NOT an absent father is so funny 💀

Maury: You are NOT the father! Guy:🕺 Woman:🏃‍♀️💨 Cameraman:📹🏃‍♂️💨

As someone who has been in the audience for approx 15+ episodes & kept going back throughout college for shits & giggles, I can confirm that the producers definitely tell us when & how to react during key moments of each family’s stories. The more dramatic you react, the greater chance you’ll be shown reacting on TV, and since obviously we want to be on TV, many of us do our best job going over the top. Now consider that being on the show cost us literally nothing (they provide a free shuttle bus to Connecticut from Midtown NYC), this was an easy & entertaining way for anyone to be part of trash TV at the expense of a weekday morning. Good times.

Being a 9th grader learning about recessive and dominant traits has taught me that anyone with a 9th grade education knows that not looking like the father doesn't mean that that's not the father lol

The fact that this show has the line "You remember when we went to see Transformers 2?" said with full sincerity makes me believe that this is actually the best talk show.

The camera quality hasn't changed for 30 years as well

Has anyone see that clip where the dad says that the baby can’t be his because he’s too short even though he’s a LITERAL BABY.
  • @g2.a6
Idk why but "his design is updated" made me tear up with laughter. Like Maury isn't a real human but a hologram or something.

nah the first girl was right. she's saying she literally does all the work for their kids and that he treats her so poorly she should leave but just cant somehow. legit abuse probably going on. so weird to agree with the father in that she was being "too much" or whatever. i hope she left his ass regardless

I stand by Dr. Phil being the worst talk show. The guy takes neurodivergent and mentally ill people and plays off their suffering as their fault. Absolutely revolting.
  • @Observette
“Do they have a sign that tells them when to boo?” Yes Jarvis. Yes they do.

I used to watch Maury with my college roommates and once there was this really sweet and beautiful story. This woman never knew who her dad was and her mom was dying and told her who it was. And she was definitely close to 30. And Maury asked if he wanted to be her father and the man said he would be there for her like a father no matter what the results. And he was the father!! It was a sweet reunion. Everyone was crying. But you're right. It's mostly trash haha
  • For the first girl, I can get why she was super pissed about being accused of sleeping with his cousin. If I was accused by my wife/girlfriend that I got her cousin pregnant and nothing i said convinced her, I would be pissed off as well
  • I'm 90% convinced all daytime television is being watched solely by stay at home moms and college students. Some of my friends spend hours watching this stuff, and then hours more telling others about it.
  • "you ARE the father" the deadbeat dad: "damn i guess i have to become a loving father and get my life together"
  • @cambiata
I once tried to get on Judge Judy, so I have an answer to your question of why you would use a program like this to "solve your problem": It's because all three of the "beefing" people on the show get an appearance fee just for showing up, and they probably get more if the episode they were in actually airs on TV. So probably none of those people actually hate each other, they're putting on a show for Maury.

Even thought I was the result of an unwanted pregnancy (19 yr old going through college, nice woman who left me letters) I consider myself so lucky that I had a whole board of people at an adoption agency who reviewed and deemed healthy a few sets of families for my bio mom to pick from, that all wanted me in their life. Imagine having people in life applying to have you in their family and provide for you promising to love you no matter who you are, where you come from, and before you exist. My parents waited years for the beeper, that was me to go off.
