You're in luck Geebz! It's Only Smiles is originally a metal version from 2019, show us that reaction now please! Frickin love that song

@10:30 - This track was 'flipped', this is an acoustic version of a track :p You should also check out the acoustic version of 'Scarlet' which was released along side this one!
  • This was great to see live at their most recent concert. Great version of the song
  • @Kelly.sapphire
They played this and Scarlett live on tour when they did 2 shows in the same city. They are my favorite band and awesome live. Mike is also very talented.

I really appreciate your content Geebz. I've discovered many incredible new songs and bands I would have otherwise missed, through your channel. You perform a valuable service to those of us with a passion for music and a desire to connect with those like us. Thanks for what you do. Cheers.

BRO the Scarlet acoustic version is SO EFFIN GOOD, check it out. This one is good but Scarlet came out much better imo. much more raw, organic and personal feeling
  • @GuitarKid581
The new Scarlet acoustic with him is even better.

Got to see Periphery live back in November and Mike was the solo opener and he was a real treat! He and Spencer sounded great on the other track (Scarlet) too!
  • @hilla42
You have been reacting to Mike Dawes playing The Impossible about one year ago. Cheers Lars.

Mike Dawes has a cover of Scarlet by Periphery and it's fantastic. It's only Smiles is perfect for an acoustic version (the original is on the Hail Stan album).

This is a phenomenal rendition of a phenomenal song! The plugged-in version will give you the chicken skin. I HIGHLY recommend Geebz. Cheers!

I was hoping for more of a stripped down version of his vocals. The processing certainly feels like an artistic choice, but given the meaning of the song and how strong the guitar playing is here I find myself not liking this as much as the original version. Still an amazing song, Marks playing on the OG is just so good, and its a powerful song about Spencer overcoming the death of his sister. Great video Geebz!

Periphery is one of my all time favorite bands, seen them live a few times and this song really resonates with me. That being said, this version has a little something that doesn't do it for me and I can't quite pinpoint it :/

Hey Geebz, there’s this really really amazing and brilliant album called Six by Mansun that I really think you should try out. It is such a unique album and ahead of it’s time. It wasn’t well received back in the day but with time it has become an extremely underrated gem deserving of a good listen. I think you might really enjoy this one. The mix has a lot of layers and hidden depth and the songs themselves are complex yet sound flawless. The melodic ideas in the album are really amazing, guitar solos are really good, vocals and backing vocals have such great harmonies and in my opinion, the further you get in the album, the better the songs get. I highly recommend this album and would love a reaction, but I know a full album could be a long sit. I do think that it’d be really cool to see someone with your insight and knowledge to listen to this, I think there might be a good chance you’ll enjoy it quite a bit. This album has rapidly become my father and I’s favorite album of all time, and best produced album for us. And I never thought any artist could beat my previous favorite album from Tool, but this one did.

4:50 My thoughts exactly. The beginning felt odd with the excessive amount of vocal processing. Thankfully it improved quickly and it's a great version otherwise. Mike Dawes does brilliant acoustic arrangements.
  • @Jesperadoo
Listen to Scarlet Acoustic as well, please!
